Too many times I have exited the trailer and forgotten the keys. Keys to the truck, to the pass through, to the bikes, etc . . . Then back up the stairs to get them off the wall hung up high.

I have moved them to be hung low and just inside the door. Now if I forget, which I will, I can reach them from the ground without having to go back up the stairs.

I hope this saves someone else some trips back up the stairs.

When I have my keys with me, I clip them onto my belt loop, so as to not set off the alarm on the truck or hit the button that opens the tailgate. That can happen if the key fob is in my pocket (been there, done that), so I have a small clip on my key ring to hook them to my belt loop.

I put a small Command Strip hanger inside the control panel cabinet, which is right across from the door. I made a short lanyard with a key tag attached to it. I printed out a small label that says “Water” and stuck it to the key tab.

When I come into the trailer, I hook the keys to the lanyard, using the same clip I use for attaching them to my belt loop, and they hang just below the bottom of the cabinet door when it’s closed. When I get the keys to head out with the truck, I am reminded to “TURN OFF THE WATER”. I dont’ need any leaks in the plumbing showing up 5 minutes after we’ve left for the day, then returning to a basement full of water...
