Question to GD tech team.

How do you remove the glass shades from the Kitchen Island light fixtures? I have a Reflection, but may be all models have the same fixtures.

Thanks

Are you talking about the pendant lights?

You should be able to turn them counter clockwise to loosen the grommet inside, then turn the grommet on the inside (above the bulb) counter clockwise to unscrew from the rod.

Yes, the pendant lights. I tried as you suggested to unscrew counter clockwise, then counter clockwise for the grommet, it seems to be tightened together with the light bulb base. I can't seem to move it independently. Thanks for the info, but I may have to wait for the dealer.

It may be tight then.

I just ran out onto our lot (I work at a dealership) and tried it in one of our 337RLS models.

I had problems removing the bulbs shortly after we got the camper as the socket wanted to loosen too. I don't remember the details but I disassembled/reassembled, tightened and put a liberal coat of dielectric grease on the bulb base so it's much easier now to push/turn to remove.

Has anyone installed a new ceiling light fixture over the island? We have a GD Imagine 2970rl. It has no existing fixture over the island. I am looking for tips on how to install a new fixture without damaging the existing ceiling too much.

We installed pendant lights over the island in our 295RL. I'll try to send you a picture.

Don,

I sent a picture to your E-Mail. Any questions let me know.

If there aren't lights up there already, the issue is going to be getting power (12VDC) up there. If the vent fan is close enough, you might be able to fish some wires across - but then switching would be an issue.

These, you remove the bulb. Then look up inside the glass globe and there is a round knurled ring, grasp that ring with hand and the glass with the other and turn them together counter clockwise (loosen) a bit and it will move. The ring is pressing into a rubber ring, so it does not move easily and you likely will not move it without the help of also spinning the glass. Once it rotates just a bit the pressure is reduced on the rubber and the ring spins freely.

Replace the same way, rubber ring, then knurled ring threaded on until you can not turn any more, then grasp the glass and the ring and turn them together a bit more to really cinch into the rubber that will prevent it from coming loose while driving.
