Laminate siding gouge repair

Just found a small shallow gouge in my laminated siding. How best handle a repair… short of taking it to dealer.

I impaled my Reflection slide. The gouge was repaired with a backing and Bondo. They then primed and spot painted it. The clear coat had to be roughed up with wadded up plastic wrap to match the other finish.
