I just got word from the dealer today, as expected, the transmission is dead and will be replaced. How long that takes remains a question for the future. The electronic module that controls the transmission also controls some camera functions, which is why my trailer cameras were not working—eleven days for the diagnosis. I'll let you know what happens next. Thanks to all for the support!

Your primary wheels are aluminum and use a conical (acorn) seat lugnut. All spares are mounted on painted steel wheels. They use the same lugnut but you will see some of the cone because there's no deeply machined seat on the steel wheel. When used by themselves, steel wheels get an open ended acorn lugnut with shallower cone but it's the same angle.

you are correct about the steel rims and lugnuts. Unless it would be a special order from the factory they all come with steel spares. The nuts are interchangeable.
No need for the OP to get a different rim unless the spare was a different diameter.

We have the 16" aluminum wheels with a steel spare, but it's kind of odd, the aluminum wheels are flat where they meet the flat wheel hub, but the steel wheel has a, for lack of a better word, lumpy, surface, and not flat. Very odd. I could see where the trailer axle hub had dug into the steel wheel. Not a fan at all. But I now have my Sailun tires mounted so I'm hoping that spare never sees the light of day again. :)

They are tracking these transmission failures on HDRams forum if you feel like participating.

I would verify the part number of the replacement Aisin - the defective ones are already in the parts supply chain and instances of the replacement Aisin suffering the snap ring problem exist.
