I know there have been some prior discussions regarding these lights. Today we purchased our third set of bulbs for this light fixture! Considering we took delivery in October 2013, put the rig into storage by the end of October, and have been on an extended trip since end of April, I really think there is some issue here. Really don't want to take the rig in just for service on this issue. Seems like there are many other owners with this same problem. How are you going to solve this problem?

FYI, our solitude is going in today for some other issues to be repaired and I am going to have them look at the lights. I am tired of replacing bulbs too. We don't live in it and I think a bulb should last longer than a few hours of operation. We don't have working bulbs in it now..... I just left the blown ones in it..... After changing them 3 times, I was done.

Thanks for posting about the LED bulbs. I couldn't get the link to open, can you verify and re-post? I would like to keep that link for reference.

Hi John & Joanne (@goose115),

Are these bulbs for the pendant lights or puck lights?

Best regards,
~ Janice

Hi Janice,

I would say these are pendant lights, there are two that hang over the sink. The bulb number is 1076 if that helps.

"Another one bites the dust"...yes another light done!!! We are stationary in our seasonal site so can't blame this on vibration...waiting to hear something back from GD...Janice are you there??!

Being I was in automotive parts for a long portion of my life, I'm wondering if the 12 volt light hanging upside down is getting to hot and shortening the life of the bulb. I have never seen an automotive bulb be mounted upside down. They are always horizontal or vertical with the base down.

FWIW...I went through a few 1076 bulbs in our pendant lights over the island and also had an issue trying to get the bulbs out....they're push in and turn to remove which also unthreaded the pendant. I coated the new bulb bases with dielectric grease making it much easier to install or remove and haven't burnt out a bulb since.

Thanks John and Joanne (@goose115),

We have recently changed to LED bulbs in our Solitude pendant lights. These lights operate cooler over long periods, and do not fail as often as incandescent bulbs which can generate significant heat.

We have also had a problem with the pendant lights - when we picked ours up a month ago one light was blown out and the tech could not get the pieces out. The whole fixture was replaced and now in only 1 month we've already got a bulb burn out...and only the right one. Surely they will last longer than 1 month?! Thanks for the bulb# - where do you find them? Please don't say it's found only at CW!

Hi Larry & Mollie (@westie0506),

I sent you a private message (PM). Please check it out and PM a reply back to me, thanks!

Anyone have the kitchen island pendant break while pulling the trailer? I have 2 of them over the island in kitchen and both have broken at the base where it attaches at the ceiling one each trip.

LEDs & New vs Old Pendant Lights

For those having trouble with standard bulbs or finding brighter LED bulbs, buy the "Bonlux 1076 LED 50W 5W Ba15d base Warm White 3000K, 500 lumens (Pack of 2)" from Amazon (ASIN B01N7BZUPA). My wife finally has enough light to rock at the island. Its hard to find those bulbs for RV applications.

As for Pendants breaking. We never had that problem. Maybe Grand Design changed products or their mounting methods from the earlier RV units that could be causing this problem on the newer RV units. Something to check with Grand Design.

We found these guys at the Elkhart Rally https://rvledlites.com.
They have two piece bulbs that fit the sockets over the island. You choose a base with radial lighting 1076BS -430WW and a top cap with many more LEDs for down lighting to the island TC-260WW. I have tried several different LED lights in this location, but these are by far the best. We chose warm white lighting, but they also have cool white versions. You can even mix and match if you want, with warm radial LEDs and cool white down lighting.

I checked out the RV Led Lites web site although. I'm impressed with the modular design they have to building LED lights to fit the different size fixtures and they are EMI suppressed too!

Was this company or bulbs represented at the RV Owners Rally? I didn't see them there.

Thanks for pointing that company out. They may be what I need the next time I'm looking for an LED bulb
