Lippert Tire Linc Sensor Battery Question

I'm wondering if leaving the sensors on the tires drains the sensor batteries. I've been removing them when not using the trailer, just in case, but it would be nice to know if removing them really makes any difference.

I have the TST system, and they advise that leaving the sensors in place will drain the batteries. However I have heard of some systems that don't activate until the tire rotates, but do not know that personally.
