Lithium Battery Brands?

I have a Weize brand - no issues. When I bought it, it was $319.00. All of these batteries are a lot cheaper now.

I have 3 BattleBorn 100ah. I know they are expensive but they are assembled in USA and they are gearing up to manufacture all components in the USA. With a 10 year warranty I decided to go with them. Made in USA is important to me and their customer support has been phenominal.

LiTime is the favorite here, but what are other cheaper brand options that are dependable?

A couple of weeks ago, I searched Amazon for the lowest priced 12v, 100ah, Lithium (LiFePo4) batteries. The lowest price I found was $152, I also found several others for $178 (+/-), all with free shipping.

I always recommend that you search YouTube for a teardown video of any prospective battery brand you are considering. By watching the video(s) you can determine if the battery meets your service and quality expectations.

I only plan on rv'ing for another 3 to 5 years. Having a 10 year warranty is not a big deal. Getting a cheaper battery would allow me to get a better solar charge controller if necessary. It would also let me get an inverter later if I decide to do so or a small inverter generator. This would be used mainly if I got stranded or if the campground looses power. If I was one of the unlucky one's in my town that lost power Memorial Day morning and still without power I could have been using my trailer.

Another one for SOK. I have 48v server rack batts, and the BMS on these has communication with the Victron inverters, BUT I do get a high voltage alarm typically as the batts get close to full charge and go into cell balancing. Otherwise they have been fine. If I was going to buy an expensive battery, I’d skip Battleborn and go with Victron, which I’ll probably do next time.

Hope you get your power back soon.

Senility strikes again. I was one of the "lucky" ones that did not lose power. My brother is one of the unlucky ones and he has been without power for five days. He built a portable generator/battery/inverter system in his house and that is what saved him and his freezers. He would be setup if he could somehow connect his huge solar system to his setup.

Another LiTime user here. This season is my first experience with both lithium and solar. We are not boondockers so we don’t have the off the grid needs that many folks have. But our rig is in storage between trips with no services. The solar and LiTime lithium are working very well together in maintaining the SOC of the battery. I visit the rig quite a bit for little projects and such and always have full power available. Plus we can go and click the fridge on the night before a trip so it’s plenty cooled down and ready to be stocked.

Not saying those are good or bad batteries, but dang $152! That is pretty cheap [Maybe they hit you up with a $200 shipping fee]. With those prices, why would anyone get a lead acid battery? Again, not saying they are good or bad, but assuming it lasts a few month, it will last a few years.

I found a "DC" brand of battery with a good price, so I started reading the reviews. Most were good until I found Liam's tear down. He said this was the worse built battery out of 28 that he has done.

Most on-line forums, no matter the topic, tend toward the negative. In other words, you tend to hear most from those whose product has broken (whether that product is a car, a tool or clothing). In this thread, however, I'm not hearing about broken or exploding LiFePO4 batteries, no matter the cost of the battery. It really makes me want to consider the less expensive brands first. I built my own LiFePO4 battery 4 years ago with cells bought from China (same as any "Made in USA" company does) and it works just fine. I did use the "best" BMS I could find. I'd do it again but I think it would cost me more than it would to just buy a less expensive brand.

Yes, thatis a very good price. And you are correct, that at these prices buying Lead Acid really doesn't make sense.

By-the-way, those prices included shipping. On Amazon, there were several others for less, but, those had a shipping fee attached. However, those with shipping fees generally worked out to be about the same price as the competing batteries with free shipping, so, don't automatically discount them (although, to be honest, I would probably buy the batteries with free shipping unless there was a fairly big price advantage).

Yes, I really think those who take the time to do the teardown are genuinely providing a great service to the community.

A couple of years ago, I found a battery teardown of a battery that was so bad, I wrote a warning thread on this forum about it. Think it was titled: Cheap Battery Warning..." if you want to check it out. That battery was really crap, but, I remember that the manufacturers did not lie in their description, they just chose such a bad BMS that the battery could only produce 50 amps of power and could only charge at .25c rate. Probably would have been good for running a light in a remote shed with a small Solar panel on it, but certainly not good for use in an RV with a 3,000 Watt inverter hooked to it.

I am pretty sure I will stick with a LiTime battery. Now I have to decide what size and model? I only have room for one battery in the space allocated for this and a possible inverter. I saw that they have a new Flagship 230ah battery out. My other choice will be a 200ah battery.
