This is hard to explain but I will try my best so you can understand my problem. The large window in the living room is hard to close. The top part of the window that opens is hitting (you could hear a bang) on the frame (?) Of the part of the window that does not open. I think, it is a metal-to-metal contact. But I am concerned that one day I will end up with a shattered window. It attached picture is very poor. I tried to label where the contact is occurring and it appears that the part of the window that does not move metal frame is a little thicker at the top than at the bottom. I assume this occurred when they glued the metal frame around the window and may be added a little bit too much glue.

Since you are out of warranty (unless you have an extended one), the costs of repairs are on you. If you are somewhat handy, maybe you and your wife can work together to find the exact spot where two things are trying to be at once. Once you know that, you can decide what to do about it. The easiest might be to bend one piece of metal a bit so that the other one slides past it easier. If nothing else, if you can do the looking for the point of contact, you will save some money when you take it to someone so they can fix it. Worst case, you will have to replace the window.
