Hi everyone.

As the title states we're new to Grand Design family and looking forward to participating in the discussions. We purchased a 2023 311BHS 5th wheel earlier in the year and headed out for a 6 month road trip. We're not retired yet so still working from the camper but this is a 'preview' for the next stage. I can say it has been an eye-opening experience but we've enjoyed the opportunities associated with the travel.

We had a 23' Jayco travel trailer for a number of years which we loved but knew it was too small to spend any real time in. The larger camper has taken some getting used to, especially the maneuverability but we've found a slower pace and a deep breath when needed improves the outlook considerably ;) .

We've met a lot of great people along the way and this lifestyle creates a common bond where we can share the challenges and opportunities we've all learned. Thanks to everyone for the helpful posts and we want to wish everyone 'safe travels'.

Brian & Linda.

Welcome to the forum. We too moved up to a 5th wheel from a smaller TT. We love the room and especially the easier hitching.

Congrats on your new rig and welcome to the group!

Thanks. Yes, I agree. The main reason for the upgrade was for working purposes and the extra space is welcome, along with the ease of hitching and towing. At our recent stop we did have a problem getting into a site in a crowded campground but I considered it an opportunity to improve my driving skills. At least I didn't have a number of fellow campers watching, although I'm sure they kept checking out the windows as it took awhile ;)

That's campground sport, watching others trying to back into their spot. Unfortunately, I usually give them plenty to watch. Last year we watched this one guy who effortlessly got his rig parked in one pass with perfect placement, we were very impressed.
