Looking at 317RTS-advice please

Hi-we are looking at the 317RTS. Have not seen it in person yet but the floor plan looks great for us. Couple of questions:

We are also looking at getting a new truck. Do you believe the Ford F-350 long bed, single axle, 4.30 rear end would do the job? I believe the cargo capacity is over 4000 lbs and towing capacity is at 15000 lbs. thanks for any input.

I don't want to insult our dealer with an offer that is way too low. MSRP is around $57,000. What would be a fair deal for this 5th wheel?

Do any of you have this model? Any feedback?

Dave and Anne - Welcome to the forum! That is a great truck for towing. Diesel or gas? I normally don't like discussing prices in a public forum because it causes folks who might have paid a little bit too much to feel bad about their purchase and their dealership. As far as I know, I am the only one on the Forum with a 317RST. We love the layout and it tows like a dream. We have had some quality issues that you can read about on the "Maiden voyage of the Titanic" but, I believe, these issues are pretty rare for a Grand Design product. I sent you a PM regarding your specific questions.

You didn't say but with a 4.30 rear, is it the 6.2 gas? I'm towing with a V10 gas...don't feel underpowered including towing in the mountains, but sure wish at times for that sophisticated exhaust brake on the late model diesels.

Yes Dave it is a gasoline engine. We would love the power of a diesel but am concerned about possible costly out-of-warranty repairs. We plan on keeping this truck for quite some time.
