Looking for Compatible Rear Observation Cameras for 2024 Imagine Trailer

We just purchased our first travel trailer - Imagine 2500RL. We decided that a rear observation camera would be in our best interest to help with seeing what is behind us, as well as anyone starting to come up along our rear sides. The trailer comes prewired for the Furrion camera, however, the $550 price tag is a bit shocking when there are other options available. I'd like to know what other camera systems are compatible with the Furrion wiring and mount.

Thanks
Joe

You might want to look at this brand.

We have an older model Range Dominator with the 5” screen. It works very well for what I wanted, that is seeing drivers sneaking up on my butt and for lane change. While this system requires running cable from the camera to the transmitter/repeater, it has worked very well with no video drop out. I see they have quite a large selection to choose from that wasn’t available when we purchased. Still, the small monitor has a very clear picture and it has paid for itself several times.

Good luck.

Also bought an adapter plate for mounting the rear camera. (Plate came with an adapter cord for electrical connection)

There is nothing special about the wiring, since most all trailers just use the running light circuit to power on the camera. The Furrion base is specialized, but it seems many generic are out there with adapters to mount their camera on the Furrion base. Just goto Amazon and do a search for "furrion backup cameras" and read down the list. Our friends have a 2022 2500RL, and they paid for the furrion side and rear cameras, and screen. It actually is really nice compared to the Lippert camera that we got with out 5ver. I agree, the price is outrageous. We wanted a more reliable observation camera that was on without the running lights. So we hardwired a system in.

Hi Joe, I have a near new Furrion S 3 camera system (7” monitor, rear camera and left/right side cameras) that came on my 2022 Montana. I got talked into replacing them by dealer (regret doing), so they have only a few months of use on them. I just looked online and it seems like they sell new for over $900. I would take $350 for all if interested. Let me know and I can give you contact info.

Thanks, Neil

5" Haloview here, works well and great picture.

We bought a Hopkins vueSMART, and with a little bit of filing on a plastic adapter, it fit the Furrion mount on the back. Here's a link... https://www.campingworld.com/hopkins-vuesmart-wireless-trailer-camera-123403.html. I also like that the camera transmits via Wi-Fi to a phone, so I don't need a separate display.

A long-time camper friend of mine bought a Haloview after using a system that worked on his phone specifically because he wanted a separate display, he didn't like switching screens on the phone to see the camera.

different strokes for different folks...

I noticed in your signature that you have a 2023 Chevrolet 2500hd. Did you have any problems with that camera working with the PWD electronics coming from the truck?

I don't know exactly what PWD electronics is. I plug in my trailer to my truck, turn the lights on and it works.

It's the new pulse width modulation that all newer GM trucks have. It's been giving heck to folks that have the Furrion S5 & 7 cameras.

We use Haloview and love it as well. I bought the side cameras as well that replace the side market lights. They're super helpful when backing up and turning and you can no longer see down the side. We have the 7" screen, and I can run a view that shows me both sides of the camper and rear view at the same time. Super helpful. Just a little bit of work to get the adapter cord hidden away, and running the wire up the top of the camper. But get no lag or dropouts.

I also bought the Amtifo on Amazon and once you receive the kit send their support team an email with your order number and they'll send you another gift, even another camera if you want. They also ask you to give them a review.
