I have a 2024 GD 23LDE travel trailer. Should the slide out not work, how can you manually push the slide back in? Owners manual says there is an opening to insert a “crank” handle by the hot water heater to crack it in. My trailer does not have this. Thank you for any help.

Need a bunch more info

Type of slide?
Power?
Work before?

Ps. The owners guide is generic for all trailers. Just because it says something doesn’t mean yours applies

Look under the skirting. I’m guessing you will probably see where the crank is inserted for the slide mechanism. GD forgot to drill the hole in my skirting where the crank would connect to the slide mechanism. The dealership had to do it. Let me know.

I would be surprised if it is possible to manually crank in your slide. My guess is that you would have to disconnect/raise the motors on both sides of the slide then push it in. Lots of Youtube videos on this.

I just looked up the 23LDE and it looks like the slide might be is a Schwintek slide with the 2 synchronized motors and controller. (worst design possible IMO). If that's the case, there is videos on-line or Youtube from Schwintek showing how to disengage them. There is a essentially a detent screw under the seal, from the outside of camper, that you take out, pop up motor with a screw driver to disengage it, and then "push" the slide in or out. Once in, however, they show using 2X4's, cut to length, put between the flange and the side wall, to prevent the slide from going back out during travel.

Thank you very much. The whole under belly is covered, guess I start around the slide area.

I saw a few video of someone doing that. Hoping that wasn’t the case. But my luck it is. I just want to try a be prepared should it happen. First time owner of a travel trailer.
Thank you and safe travels.
