The original mattress in our Reflection 337 RLS has lost it's battle with my fat body and we need a replacement. We have looked at all of the online companies and a couple of the big ones are just a phone number and another isnt in the state that advertise but are in Florida. Also, I like to lay on a mattress before I buy one and this is another reason why I dont buy clothes online. We love our mattress at home but it is very heavy and anymore we are very weight conscious with the rig. It was suggested to me that the Solitudes have a little better mattress then a Reflection and we would only have to go to a dealer and try out Solitude mattresses and I had to agree that this might be an option.

Any suggestions?

I agree, its such a subjective experience its hard to say what you might be good with. We like the mattress in our solitude but are considering trying to find one we like better. The first night camping is never quit comfortable and I dont know why. Happy camping!

Have you considered or tried a foam topper for your existing mattress? Our Reflection 295RL's OEM mattress was very uncomfortable too. When we did our research, we decided to first try to mimic (as close as possible) what we currently used without changing the overall characteristics of the existing mattress.

We ended up purchasing a foam 3" topper and it made a pretty big difference, enough that we have ended up keeping the original mattres and now feel good sleeping on it since 2019 (new).

BTW, my wife is much more the soft style sleeper, while I like a harder style sleep. The topper was able to satisfy both of us. Also, we were able to find a foam topper that did not make us feel hot at night. Plus, because we bought on Amazon, if we ended up not liking it, could return it free.

It didnt add that much more extra weight (maybe 10lbs?), reasonable priced, and didnt change the characteristics (length, width) for under the header cabinet distance and being able to use the existing lift feature of the under bed storage to the point where either one of us could still open it.

Note: as stated in a prior post... any RV mattress (or for that matter a different than already used as a primary sleeper - like a hotel or even new mattress sometimes) will take some getting used to. From our experience with this setup, which could be one week to maybe a month at a time camping, doesnt seem to effect our sleep transition from our primary sleeper. BTW, our primary sleeper is a 15" medium firm Beautyrest pillow top.

I personally liked the mattress in our Reflection much better than the Solitude. I find the one in the Solitude compressed and sagging and hard.

The mattress in my Momentum was one of the worse I have tried to sleep on, and is a common issue with most new trailers. I put a 3" memory foam topper on mine. Night and day difference. Cheap and works.

We have sleep number in the house and the RV. Yes, they are more expensive than other solutions but you spend about 1/3 of your life in bed, you might as well have the one that fits you the best. Sleep number being adjustable they way they are means anyone can be comfortable on one, you just have to spend a little time finding your ideal setting.

Thanks for the comments, for us picking a mattress that suits the two of us is one of our harder things to do. Trailryder, my wife and I are the same as you guys, she likes a soft mattress and I like a firm one. We had a sleep number at home for several years but didnt like the small air mattresses to sleep on each side but a lot of people swear by them. I have been told by several people that they simply gave the online mattress away to a charity and got a full refund but I am still skeptical. Our Reflection came with a firm mattress and the wife used a topper on her side and this is what made us think that maybe a Solitude would have a little better quality mattress but Calbar's comment makes me wonder. I think we are going to have to go to the dealer and try different models out. When it comes to a mattress I am worse than any woman trying on shoes.

We bought a regular mattress right out of the gate. It's been replaced recently with a hybrid that is what the mattress industry calls medium firm. No pressure points, it's weighty but worth it. It's a Dream Cloud. You can try them in some stores, list of places can be found on their website. Then order on their website where it's less $$$.

We liked it so much we replaced the house mattress with another one this summer.

Did you upgrade the struts on the bed. If so what weight did you go with?

We have the struts, 100 lb but haven't installed them. The mattress is about 85 lbs and liftable with the oem struts but does not stay up. They have been traveling under the bed for 3 years. I use a stick to hold the bed up if we need anything under there. We only keep things that are not used often under there, like warm jackets and vests , space heater and other light items that are needed but not used often.

I put an 8" memory foam mattress in my Reflection. I never tried the mattress that came with it. I have been sleeping on a memory foam mattress for years in my home.

We bought out Solitude in April, 2021. Never slept on the mattress. Didn't even try it at the dealer or when the rig came home. Buying a mattress is obviously a personal thing, but what I did was search through the Keystone forum and this forum, and others, for what people were buying and if they were happy with it. Kept track of brand of mattress and style. After getting a bunch of data, started researching the top brands. Since it was 2021, supply chain issues were huge so had to rule out some that weren't available. Ended up with a Dynasty Mattress Cool Breeze Gel 10 inch memory foam. Worked out great!

I'm pretty sure Sleep Number discontinued the RV mattresses. We like it so much, we'll be keeping ours when we sell our trailer.

I believe I also read that sleep number has discontinued their RV mattresses. Too bad, our motor home came with one and we like it.
When we were full-timing in a Solitude we replaced the factory mattress with a premium "hybrid" one from Wilderness....my wife liked it so much she says we WILL have one in any home we end up in. I know you like to try first, but they do have that money back guarantee. Just be careful to measure the height mattress that your RV will accept without removing side tables, valances, etc. And they are heavy, which of course makes them more comfortable. I just used a piece of 1x4 to prop up the bed the rare time I needed in there.

Sleep number? I bought one in Columbus , OH @ a Retail Store. When they came to deliver it, they wouldn't even bring it into the RV. They said it was against the law. I had to jump through some hoops to get my money back.

Not sure what size bed you have. I only raise that to say that we have a king, but it is an RV king which is different than a regular king. So, be sure to measure.

I have a Queen Serta that came with my Reflection that was never slept on that I'd like to sell. Anyone know what these go for before I post it on Facebook Marketplace?
