I was at the 2024 national rally (super hot and humid and I only had 30Amp) and we were having lots of discussions about adding dehumidifiers, soft starts and such. I met a man that just had a mini split installed in a Momentum. I was very surprised at how "cold, quiet and dry" the air was coming from his unit. I have seen a few links on this forum about mini splits, but would really like to get some real life feedback on the pros/cons/brands/etc. that folks have real experience with.
So, if you have a mini split installed please share your opinion about brand, placement, $ , and overall experience.

There been some inquiry about mini splits over the last couple weeks but don't think any one here has installed one yet. It makes an interesting option. I wonder if one can be installed in place of the oem AC

Hope you enjoyed the rally, we did not go again this year but are considering going maybe next year. We had been to all of them until last year's.

The good news is that Lippert just released a new A/C unit that utilizes the "Mini Split" technology. The units are designed as "Drop-in" replacements for the OEM A/C units.

They will come in three models: A 15k Heat Pump/AC unit, A smaller unit 8k (I think) designed for smaller campers and bedrooms, and a unit designed for ducted campers.

Here is a link to a video introducing the new units:

Solar.......The problem is that it is a Lippert product. Most of the furrion gear in my trailer has been a huge disappointment.

I am budgeting for the ac and fridge replacement when they fail. I have a vendor for the fridge not sure what to do with the AC yet.

there are couple of videos on youtube about the chill cube. Big truck guy had a positive review of it.

This caught my interest enough that I went and checked the info on the Lippert/Furion Chill Cube. I even thought - gee, I might replace my main AC and about the ducting because of the "silent" claim and the 18k claim.

Then I realized that AC is at least 7" (closer to 8") taller than my current AC (Coleman Mach Air). Since I am at around 13' 5" already this is probably not a good idea for me. That Chill Cube is 14" tall!!! Yikes!

I agree on height issue. I have not measured mine, but online The Mach 15 (that I have) shows as 13.8" vs the Chill Cube at 14.5". So bigger, but not the 7"+ you noted. Am I misreading something?

Me too, anything labeled Furrion or LCI gives me the willies.

ah - you're right... math - it always kicked my butt..... So the difference is is 5.2" I guess. Still too tall for me but still tempted to re-measure.

I've got a good friend who had one his Acs (Dometic) fail - bad motor bearings. His RV tech said the Dometic Blizzard model is the best as it moves the most air (his middle AC, the Dometic that failed is a Brisk model).

Not sure what I'd pick if my Coleman fails.

Our Coleman Machs have worked fine for us the past 5 years. Proper maintenance seems to be the key.

However, If we were to replace them, I too wouldnt know what to replace them with? Not sure if I would want anything just released off the shelf either. But would probably stick (or go back) to a regular RV AC unit. My guess.... way cheaper that way.

As far as mini or split airs are conerned, I have installed them before on stick builts. Fairly simple install for a person with some mechanical skills and a little understanding of AC unit operation, not to mention a few of the right tools - (aka) decent vaccum pump and a set of manifold guages.
