We purchased a 2024 Momentum 351 in late September. We ordered it with the standard and “mandatory” options as well as King Bed, heat pump on main ac, slide toppers, exterior entertainment center, generator, 8k axle pkg, bedroom tv and splendide washer and dryer. Except for a 4 day shakedown trip to the mountains in VA and our present trip to the Keys it has been stored indoors. The generator has never been used except for periodic starting to make sure it works. It is under warranty till late September.
We find that we enjoy rv ing a bit more than we expected but would like something a bit larger. We are thinking of either selling or trading the Momentum for a Brinkley 3950 when we return to VA next month. Just wondering what those with more experience than me buying and selling RVs feel a fair price would be?

If you were thinking about a larger or upgraded GD RV you might try your original selling dealer. They may give you the best deal especially if buying another. Does your original dealer by chance sell both GD and Brinkley?

If not, it sounds like the market price in your area on used like yours is your best bet with private buyers. Good luck and happy trails!

Thanks. Our dealer does sell both. I am trying to determine what a fair price would be.

I have no idea what you are towing the 351 with, but that Brinkley has an unloaded weight of 18,700 lbs and GVWR of 22,500 lbs. Simply put, you are going to need something that has a LOT of payload capacity.....and obviously Dually.

I have a GMC Denali dually on order.

I truely understand your your wanting to know a good price, but like all vehicles it really comes down to location, time of year, and of course demand.

For instance, here in KC MO, I can probably get more on the resale of my truck than I could say in Chicago Il. My dealer last year asked me if I would pass on the sale and he would give me an extra couple grand back! He trys to sells at invoice and cant get enough trucks in and most are order/delivery upon arrival. His owner wanted some on the lot to sell to desperate buyers. Thats why I recommend finding out the market in your area and/or working a trade with your dealer for the best deal. In our area RV lots are full of new units including GD and (from what Ive heard) they are back to doing good discounts again.

First year depreciation is normally the biggest hit, used to hear 30% was typical. RV sales have slowed. We had a buyer for our 2022 351M last year that ended up backing out of the deal due to the increase in interest rates. Looking at the 351's listed on RV Trader, I see prices from $60K for a 2020 to $99K for a 2023.

Going bigger may affect your camping style. We have a 45' motorhome (48' with the MC lift). When we would call parks to ask about availability and price, we found that many could accommodate our larger size. So far, so good.

When I asked about staying for a month or more, many did not offer a month rate for an RV of our size. We could pay the daily rate if we wanted.

When we moved to the 39' 351, we are rarely denied a monthly rate. It comes down to availability, they simply have more of the smaller sites.

Just a thought.... others may have a different opinion.
