Hello Everyone...

I had an issue before with my Carefree rear patio awning not closing. Found information on YouTube to adjust it and it worked. Didn't use it for a few months but we were at spot that had very little shade so we opened it. And it worked just fine for a while and then it stops with about a foot left out.

Tried the adjustment trick and all that happened is the screw just spun and the awning didn't close.

So I had a RV Tech come out to look at it, he tried the same thing and same occurrence. The awning does go in an out, just doesn't close all the way. Tech suggested that we get a new motor. I'm not sure that will resolve the issue since the awning functions.

Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks in advance!

one of my set screws was loose, the other one missing.

First bit of advice.......Fire the tech that came out! It certainly seems to me, common sense would dictate to a tech that if the motor is running in both directions (extending the awning and retracting the awning) that it's NOT the motor.

The motor will run until the limit switch tells it to stop, so the most likely culprit is that same limit switch again. It sounds like the set screw that holds the adjustment in place is not holding the adjustment in place......but again, it's NOT the motor, so don't waste money on a new one.

Have that problem with the rear awning on our 21G. I adjust it an it works a few times and the it lacks about 2 inches from all the way in. Called Carefree and tech told me it needs a motor. But if it goes in and out, how can that be the problem?

I had the same issue. The set screws couldn't get it to close all the way either. Spent quite a bit of time with Carefree customer support and they recommended to replace the motor. I did replace it, adjusted the new motor's set screws and problem solved.
