An RVer asked about an older Momentum where the two main slides move partway, stop, and only finish extending or retracting after repeatedly pressing the switch. The fluid level was reported as okay, and the bedroom slide was working normally.

Members suggested checking battery voltage first, since low voltage can cause slow or intermittent slide operation. Several members focused on the hydraulic pump power circuit, especially a 50 amp self-resetting breaker usually located near the bus...

So on my friends older Momentum, the 2 main slides are going out part way then stopping. He keeps hitting the button and finally gets them all the way out. Same going back in. Any ideas what might be the problem? Fluid level is ok. Bedroom slide is fine.

Are you talking about the main breaker in the panel inside? I thought there was a circuit breaker up front in the storage compartment. Mine has started doing the same thing.

There is a 50 amp self resetting breaker on the hydraulic pump power inlet somewhere (usually behind the black plastic cover over the bus bar), it needs to changed to an 80.
did GD start using an 80 amp breaker on a certain year model ?

I have a 2018 351M. The fix was to replace the factory 50amp breaker with an 80amp breaker. Haven't had an issue in 8 yrs. During the winter, depending on the temperature of the fluid the pump may amp out while retracting.

Not sure what year your friends older Momentum is but I have a 2020 and experienced the same issues when I first purchased it. As others have noted, the self-resetting breaker on positive lead from the hydraulic pump should be changed out from 50A to an 80A but for me, that came later.

Initially, this was repeatedly happening so I had to go into One Control Advanced Settings, scroll down to the programmed "electronic" fuse for the slide and set it to 5A (it came programmed as 1A which was incorrect according to Lippert). To check/verify, hit the One Control icon multiple times until the "advanced mode" pops up and select yes to enter. You'll see a list of devices but you need to select the menu icon at top left (three bars) to open a secondary menu. From there, select Configure Fuses. You'll be given a single button with "Multifunction Uber ..."; press that and you'll be shown a list of all electronic fuse settings. Verify the "Main Slide" fuse is set to 5A. If not, update it from the drop down options (only two of them) and press save.

I experienced the sluggish pump (jacks/slides) while operating in cold weather and upgraded the physical fuse to 80A as recommended by Grand Design. The initial problem was the One Control setting. I was told GD just uploaded all of the settings at once so I expect a lot of trailers were set this way before they noticed and corrected it.

The original problem was the 50A breaker, long before the One Control was made.
Our 2016 380TH Momemtum had the same problem.
This forum and it's members figured out what the problem was.
Lippert designed the system for a 80A, but GD choose to install the 50A breaker.

If you have One Control, it's something to check based on Lippert's own guidance. When that update instantly solved the problem on my Momentum's main slides a year before I changed the physical fuse, I know it worked! If you don't have One Control or haven't checked this setting, you (this forum) can't eliminate it as a factor.

I had the same problem on my Solitude fifth wheel. Replaced circuit breaker for hydraulic pumps to correct.

The Suburban SF-25Q (often integrated with Coleman-Mach RV climate systems) is a highly common 25,000 BTU propane RV furnace. While generally reliable, it suffers from a few notorious failure points that usually cause the unit to blow cold air, short cycle, or fail to ignite altogether. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The most common problems with the Suburban SF-25Q include:

1. Stuck or Fouled Sail Switch (Most Common)
The sail switch is a critical mechanical safety device that detects if the blower fan is pushing enough air. If it doesn't close, the control board will not allow the gas valve to open or the igniter to spark. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Symptoms: The fan turns on for about 30 seconds, blows cold air, and then completely shuts off without attempting to ignite.
  • Causes: RV dust, pet hair, or lint getting caught on the switch "sail". On the SF-25Q, you can often carefully remove the half-round squirrel cage blower cover from the front to clean the switch without removing the whole furnace. [1, 2, 3, 4]
