More mattress concerns

The previous thread reminded me of this, but I didn't want to hijack your thread...

Is anyone else's garage "mattress" (which is really just the pad for the top bed) short about 6 inches at the bottom? Mine stops and doesn't go all the way to the end and leaves the wood bare. The dealer, after sending me a replacement mattress, which turned out to be a king and for the bed room now says that's normal.

I'm leaning to them just not wanting to replace it. He says its because it will get caught in the mechanism, but the top goes all the way to the edge. Is he telling the truth, or are they trying to cheat me out of the right size mattress?
Thoughts?

The Happi Jack platform is bigger than a mattress so there is going to be gap somewhere. I put a queen mattress up there and use the gap at the foot for the pillows so the whole setup stays off the ceiling when up.

It does look like the motor unit will hit the mattress if the mattress is moved over to that corner so I keep mine to the front/forward and to the street side away from the motor. Hope that made sense.

Perfect. Thanks so much! I'm glad I asked before I complained! Great idea about the pillows. I hadn't thought of that.
