When the step was down, our door required a firm push to shut and there was a gap at the bottom of the non-hinge side of the door. The step hinge plate was attached to the trailer floor at the MORryde specified distance from the threshold, but the top edge of the step stuck out too far and hit the bottom trim of the door. This no doubt stressed the door and hinges when the door was closed. How it left the factory this way mystifies me.
.
We moved the step hinge plate back an extra 1/4" from the threshold and this solved the problem. Just be sure there is enough clearance so the step clears the outside edge of the threshold and the metal skirting below the door. The new mounting position did not noticeably affect how the upright step locks into the door frame for travel/storage. You can do a test fit by disconnecting the step from the hinge plate and resting the step on the threshold at your proposed location.
And spiders... black widow spiders like to hide in dark locations - like the black metal hollow legs of the MORryde step. Brushing off the step prior to storing it does no good if the spider hides in the hollow leg. After one got inside the trailer, I've taped over or stuffed with foam sheets all the openings on the legs that I can. Hopefully that does the trick.
