Mounting flat to spare mount

I had to put my spare on my rig and now need to mount the regular tire to the spare tire mount. Problem is, the whole in the center of the hub cover isn’t large enough to allow the flange to go through. Do I need to disassemble the flange from the cable? I’m not even sure if this can easily or possibly be done.

If it were me, I'd just throw it in the back of the truck until I got to a shop to have the tire repaired or replaced.

Thinking further on this, wondering if the “real” rims are intended to go back on the spare mount. Or just to be put in the truck as you suggest.

We had no trouble a last year when we had a flat, the hanger fit through the center and cranked up just fine.

Maybe the problem is because the hub cover is badly bent.

I had to use mine last week, just put the hub side of the aluminum rim down and it will fit just fine.
