Hello, I was wondering if anyone has found a good way to secure the areas around bottom of the slide out edges. I have stuffed steel wool in the area but am not sure it is enough as we got another mouse the other day. That's the only place I can see a gap that would allow it to enter the living space. I have unscrewed a couple areas of the chloroplast underneath to look and I don't see evidence of mice. I cannot see all areas under the trailer well enough to rule out any openings from the underside of the trailer. There was one small area of the chloroplast that a mouse could have squeezed through which I will secure.
I have traps set but so far no evidence of them being disturbed. I know they can get through tiny openings, but am not ready to remove the entire underside covering since it otherwise appears sealed well. I wondered if anyone has come up with a good solution for this.

Thanks

Those pesky critters can get through a very small hole. Some have used copper wool, since it doesn't rust. Spray foam such as this one can be effective.

Best advice I can offer is, as you are inspecting for places of entry is if you can insert a peace of paper in a crack a bug will get in, if you can insert the tip end of a pencil a mouse can get in. I used to work in the beverage industry.
For the first line of defense, any place the RV makes contact with the ground, place some type of trap there.
Second line again where the RV makes contact with the ground, start sealing there and work your way out.
Third, don’t leave any food products long term in the RV if stored and set off an indoor fogger occasionally or give one of those electric pest control devices a try.
As for sealing products I prefer outdoor expanding foam, mobile home tape or eternabond tape.

Copious amounts of Gramp Gus's repellant. Inside and out. I haven't had a mouse or insect problem since I starting using it

I second the Grandpa Gus packs. Plus we lay a heavy layer of used cat litter around the tires and legs Every few months. Haven’t had a mouse since.
