First weekend with the new 268BH. It's been a couple of weeks since I picked it up and brought it to the storage. Went to unhitch at the campground and had forgotten that the locking handle on the Curt hitch had to be pulled out in order to unlock from the king pin. W watched me struggle with it for a while, then suggested that I pull out on the handle. I guess it pays to read the tag on the hitch.
Oh well, I'm sure this is only the first of many..

I think a screw up would have been pulling out thinking the hitch was closed but it wasn't. Sounds to me like you were doing an tug test. ;-)

Remember this. (1) It's gets easier every trip. Before long you be a pro and setup will be quick and easy. (2) After you reach pro status and have it all figured out you will make a Rookie mistake.

That's why, five years into RVing, I still have my checklist in hand for hitching and unhitching.

I second the check list, just to many little that can be forgotten or overlooked that creates an oops. These oops can sometimes be expensive.

Truer words were never spoken. two years into camping and I am having trouble reaching Pro status LOL.
