We put money down on a 2021 transcend 265bh. Super excited to upgrade from our 23ft bullet. Need help choosing a hitch to provide max weight distribution and sway control. I did a lot of research but we’ve only been towing for a couple years and it’s super overwhelming. I like the equalizer e4 after everything I’ve read but the dealer is insisting it’s overkill and will cause a bumpy ride and we should go with the fastway e2. GVWR on the trailer is almost 8000lbs, dry weight around 6500lbs. We’re towing with a half ton Chevy (i don’t have the specs right now) but max towing capacity is 11400lbs.
Open to other hitch systems too, there’s so much out there

That might be the dumbest thing I have heard a dealer say
The e2 is a low quality e4. Why can’t dealers just take the money and shut their yaps.?

I love my dealer. Never bothered me with silly stuff and did what I asked

The equalizer E4 is a great hitch. Likely need the 1200 lb bars

It is the hitch I had on my old Jayco and it works flawlessly

The dealer sold Husky centreline where I got my imagine so I went with it
Basic the same hitch but it has a large weight range 800-1200. This seems a bit peculiar but it worked flawlessly as well first 1300 km tow

There are literally 10 different hitches that basically all work great. If your dealer sells equalizer I would go with the E4. Just tell the guy he might be clueless

NB said it right - bad advice from the dealer!

If you're local to PA, NJ, DE, or NE MD, I've got your hitch for a great price!

110% agree, Equalizer E4, 1200 pound bars. Have towed similar weight 2800BH with both, night and day difference.

Here is some other well review wdh to choose from and you don't have to buy from your dealer. They might refuse to install a wdh that they didn't sell you but don't let that stop you from getting the one you want. You'll most likely have to redo their wdh setup anyway as 9 out of 10 times their not setup right from the dealer. Like mentioned above E4, Husky Centerline, Blue Ox, Anderson (lightest on market) and a new kid on the block True Tow by weight safe is gaining lots of popularity because its easily adjustable on the fly. Wdh that works with bars might be a little noisy because it realies on friction from the bars. Our Husky is a little in slow tight turns like you do on campgrounds but it works as advertised.

Blue Ox Sway Pro . We tow similar weights. No noise, can back up without disengaging. Well designed and easy to engage it.
Peace of mind

Equalizer brand has been around a long time and has good reputation. If setup correctly virtually no sway. Talked to one guy at a camp ground complaining about Equalizer and sway. Checked his setup; he had absolutely no force on sway bars after he hooked up. Told him he needed to follow mfg instructions in setting up hitch and bars must have force on them to prevent sway. I have nylon pads on our sway bar brackets and it helps to cut down on noise people complain about.

Good to hear that the dealer is wrong. One more question, why the 1200 over the 1000lb bars? GVWR is just under 8000lbs.

15 percent of 8000 is 1200

Not saying you will be there but better to have heavier as lighter won’t work

Ooh gotcha. Thanks. So based on that the dealer recommendation is even worse [emoji51]

He sounds clueless. I have run into lots in the business that should just stay silent

That is why I didn’t hesitate to buy my trailer from whoever gave the best price. Wasn’t interested in listening to salesmen that know less than I do

I actually still and never will meet my salesman

Hooked on it and left after handing over the check

My salesman also questioned why I wanted the 1200 bars but when I actually weighed the ready to camp tongue weight and added in the hitch weight it was over 1000. Additionally the dealer tech didn't set it up correctly. Your safety is your responsibility not theirs.

My dealers tech had mine set up in 15 minutes and it towed 1300 km perfectly but of course once I load it it will have to be re done
