Hi, after researching travel trailers far more than I likely should have, and reporting the findings to "she who holds the veto vote", then negotiating the best I could, and signing on the dotted line, we now have a 2024 25DBE. Wife loves the layout and look on interior and exterior. I like the build reviews, and the layout also. I'm towing with a 2021 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 with 5.7L and tow package, set up with an Equalizer 4 point hitch. I really hope to avoid all white knuckle roadway experiences, and when I tow I stay around 60-65 mph on highway, in slow lane, and just enjoy the scenery.
We've owned a cheaper/smaller travel trailer in the past, and we owned a small class C RV in the past. We used the travel trailer very, very little and sold it after about a year at nearly break even (because it was very, very cheap, quite small, and not very well built, but had the Jayco name). We drove the Winnebago class C on a 5 cylinder VW chassis with the entire family (6 of us, 2 of the kids were very young and little), from NC to WA and back to KY.
Looking forward to camping again, this time around with not only our kids but also our grandkids. We have friends who own Grand Designs and speak highly of them. We plan to do some MI camping in the UP, so the 4 seasons marketing appealed to us. Also may use it occasionally on our acreage a few hours away from our home, after we get electricity hooked up there.
RV dealers seem to be pretty eager right now to deal in late winter, after coming off a rough 2023 for many of them on very reduced sales volumes after Covid explosion. 25DBE is a new model and we got 32% discount off MSRP on such, "all in" (except for tax and title). Dealer is only 30 minutes away from us, but I hope to not have to see them much for warranty issues, as we'd prefer to be camping. We skipped the extended warranty stuff and are rolling the dice.
