Hello,

I'm a new owner of 26' 5th wheel Momentum Toy Hauler, our first RV.

Wife and I have been shopping for years as our retirement vacation plans. We've loved camping with our children and grandchildren and made this RV purchase to have some comforts of home (i.e. bed) during our camping trips.

Now we're looking at RV care and maintenance. Starting with should we buy a cover, and if so, which one. We plan to store it outside (unfortunately) during the winter months in our NJ area. I've been reading some blogs saying they are not worth the costs and could create more problems than keeping them in the open air. However these blogs were over four years ago and personally beleive that it would be worth being covered when not in used for an extended period of time, provided the cover provides ventalization.

Also I'm looking for maintainence check list. Much of this list I expect to be intuitive, but bing a first time RV owner I'm expecting to read things that I had not thought of.

Thank you, and this is MarkDL in a nutshell.

A 26' Momentum 5th wheel? I didn't know they made them that short.

My concern with a cover is the possibility of it moving around a bit and scuffing in places. Our previous 5th wheel went uncovered for nearly 11 years, and the roof was still in good shape. The same cannot be said for the decals and the Montana 5th wheels were known for having issues with fading decals, but I still wouldn't want to use a cover. But that's just me. But also the rather daunting task of getting a cover up and installed on a 5th wheel has also made me avoid them. But if your 5th wheel is, in fact, only 26' it would be a bit easier. But the other caveats still apply.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm starting to lean towards no cover due to cost, extra work, and the fact the RV is designed to be an outdoor vechicle. Also our planned storage location is in an open area and not subject to falling items from trees. Instead we'll probably only purchase wheel covers.

The 2024 320G is only 26', which is ideal for us. We wanted a Toy Hauler without the extra length for traveling and parking. The 13' hight is a bit daunting, but that does give a roomy feeling when stuck inside which are planning to be rare events.

Welcome to the forum, hope you and the family enjoy your new Momentum. Yes, a bed makes camping a much pleasanter experience.

We have a cover for winter months only. It's not windy here, if you have wind I would skip the cover.

According to GD, the Momentum 320G is 36' long.

If you search the forum, you'll find a number of threads addressing the pros and cons of RV covers.

You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:
