Got an e-mail from MobileMustHave yesterday with some very appealing new e-SIM multi-carrier plans, and just thought I'd share for others with (or looking at) a Peplink.

69/mo for 100GB, no contract, e-SIM:

Prior to this, their cheapest plan was a 300GB, single carrier (ATT) 25mb/s plan at 139/mo:

That 100GB plan is very interesting for how we use our RV; 100GB is enough, it's 1/2 the price, and it covers all the major carriers. Like all their plans, it's also month to month, so, in the summer when we don't use our RV, I can just shut it down.

Think when camping season ends for us in April, I'll cancel my Verizon and T-Mobile plans and wait until our trip in late September to start back with this new plan. Very attractive though for those using a Peplink!

The way these things come and go, will the plan still be there in September? Just wondering...

I hope so, but, can't disagree with your objection. Cell phone plans really should be about the most dead simple things in the world to buy; how many GB/mo, how long are you signing up, what carrier are you using. Instead we have layers upon layers of complexity that, quite honestly, serves NO purpose at all. You can buy the exact same service on the same carrier and pay 20 bucks a month or 200 bucks a month. And calling every plan "Unlimited" when, in fact, almost 0% of them are actually unlimited (grandfathered plans) makes it even more opaque. Oh, and then device locking (only for a phone, only for a hotspot), geo locking (only can be used at home), IMEI locking (only can be used in a specific device)...

It's absolutely absurd. Couple that with reps and sales teams that the training appears to be "Can you spell Verizon, if so, your hired!", it's beyond ridiculous. All to stave off the day we all know is coming, when cell phone plans are entirely a commodity, similar to how land line and home Internet have been for a decade+ now. 50 bucks a month, 500mb/s. End of discussion.

I sense your frustration and couldn't agree with you more. We have a grandfathered, truly unlimited 4G VZW hotspot (acquired during that 5 - 6 month window before they figured out that they had done something smart for us but dumb for them) at $45/month after the multi-line, auto-pay, and military discounts. We have broadband cable where we're long-terming now, but do you think I'm going to give up that plan with the unlimited hotspot and two phones on it?...
