Just returned from our second weekend trip to our property and our new Solitude. Having problems with the Norcold 18 cf fridge. when we turn it on it works fine, gets good and cold. after it reaches temp. the burner stops. when it tries to relight we can here the igniter clicking and a whooshing sound, it will do this several times and then show NO FL code. the whooshing sound seems like it lights but blows itself out. sometimes we can turn it off and back on a few times and it will light, but a while later it wont relight again. We need this to work on Propane as we have no power at our property. We have a large Propane tank that we are hooked up to and our furnace, fireplace, water heater and stove all work well so I don't think Its a propane issue. Just wondering if any one else has had this problem.

Is your large LP tank regulated to the same pressure that the small tanks would be?

May also be spider webs or insects in the burner tube.

i installed an Onan 5500 LP generator in our Solitude. The shop I purchased it from said it is a high pressure gen. and that I needed to attach the copper line before the regulator. our propane company installed a manifold on our tank to hook up our trailer. I teed that line to run one to the generator and one to the regulator on the trailer, the propane company said the reg. on the trailer would work fine for this setup since the pressures from a large tank or a small tank are basically the same. we also blew out the burner in case there was some debris inside.

Hi @Dave & Darlene,

My understanding is that JD from our Customer Support has contacted you, so unless I hear differently from you I'll consider this handled/closed.

Best regards,
~ Janice

Thanks Janice, JD suggested that I call and talk to Norcold directly about our fridge problem. I will do that and hope for a resolution.

Did this get resolved and what was the cause? Mine is now doing the exact same thing you describe. Thanks ( I will contact Norcold but would like to hear what happened with yours)

JCR Gd, the first thing i did was blow out the burner tube, even though its a new trailer they can still get spider webs and such inside. but the thing that seemed to fix it was I bent the little igniter arm a little further away from the burner tube. this made for a bigger and hotter spark and the fridge has worked great ever since. hope this helps.

Great, thanks... I did clean it all out but didn't help. I will try the igniter adjustment, makes sense. Thanks again!

I think that was it! Working great now... no poof poof at all, just lights. Thanks D&D.... the forum comes through again.

Just FYI for future readers. My igniter was about 1/8" from gas tube. Moved it to about 1/4" from gas tube.

Curious if your unit is a Norcold 2118? I have a brand new 375RE and durning our walk through the fridge worked fine but now it won't work on either gas or shore power. I continue to get a L1-oP code and Norcold blew me off today telling me they could not give me any tech support it has to be handled by the service center. This is a brand new unit that has never been used, a little fustrated with Norcolds customer service.

I had the same issue and adjusting the spark gap fixed it. Apparently a common issue...

Not sure model number (I'm at work) If both are not working, it sounds like a bigger issue (controls etc.) Sounds like it's time to contact GD customer support.
There are also some other threads on here about this stuff.

Hi @partsguy009,

Please send me a private message with your 17-digit RV VIN, name and phone number.

Thank you in advance...

Best regards,

partsguy009,

With that code, take the lower panel off (outside). Kind of in the lower left there is a little box that probably has a red led lit. If so, you can use a small magnet to reset that circuit breaker. Hold the magnet over the box (close) and after a few seconds you should hear a click and the led will go out. You should be back in business.

Keith,
I spoke with a mobile rv repair tech today (yes cart without a horse) and he also mentioned the red light and there's an easy way to reset the unit if thats the only issue. Your insight is very much appreciated and I'll keep you informed. I've been in contact with Jerry at GD so they're aware of the issue as well.

Let's hope its an easy fix.

Update: pulled the service panel off and found that the red light was not lit on the thermo switch. Pulled the red and blue off the switch and did a temporary wire bypass to make sure that was the issue. Fridge works fine, dead switch which is a easy fix. Thanks everyone for your help.

Norcold should be ashamed for continuing to use a inferior factory to produce products when they're aware of the QC issues.

We are having the exact same problem. Were you able to get this problem resolved, if so what can I tell my dealer was the fix? Thank you in advance for any help you cam provide.

Hi Bill&Deb Yes I was able to fix it myself. Take the lower panel off (outside) and adjust the igniter rod a little further away from the burner tube, this gives it a stronger and hotter spark to light the fridge. Several other folks have done this and it has worked every time. our fridge has ran perfectly since i did this a couple months ago. hope this helps!

Thank you we will adjust it and hope it solves the problem.

We have a new 380TH with the Norcold 2118. When we got it home, we used shore power for a while and all was fine. We next moved the camper to our Son's lawn with no hookups. As we were in the process of closing on our house, I didn't do much checking on the camper. That night, I found out that it would not run on gas. The stove worked fine, so I knew that gas was present. Had to rig up a long extension cord to plug the camper in and was able to get it working again on electric. Had a repairman come and take a look, and decided to just pay him and work with GD on getting a refund at a later time. He found a bad gas valve and ordered the part. A few days later, he installed the part and the refrigerator still would not fire up. The igniter seemed to be too far from the burner and he adjusted that. It works fine now! He did tell me that it never was tested, because of what he found wrong.

The question I have is, why didn't the person doing the PDI find out that the refrigerator would not work on gas? Something that GD or its dealer will have to answer.
