We are looking to spend a few weeks on the northern half of the Oregon coast this summer. Does anyone have a favorite campground?

We went up that way last April and stayed at a Oceanside RV park. It is literally steps from the beach. The place was very clean, quiet, and pretty easy to get to. I think the closest city is Coos Bay.

How for North are you talking? Coos Bay will be South central to me. Are you talking Astoria, Seaside, Tillamook area? Central to me would be Lincoln City, Newport, Waldport area. Having lived in Waldport for a number of areas, there are some great places in all areas. The Oregon state parks have some of the best spots but if traveling in the summer time, you will need advance reservations. JMHO

We were thinking from the center of the coast on up. We are flexible but need to head up to Portland for an event after camping in the coast so we don't want to go too far south. We are going to make reservations soon but need to narrow it down. We have been to Lincoln city for motel stays numerous times in the past so are looking for something a little different. The sites need to accommodate a 32ft fifth and an RV with full hookups. Bobbie

BobbieT, we are headed to the same area in June, for the 3rd time in 3 years. This may be a little further south than you wanted to be but I found this spot in Waldport and will be staying there for the first time. Just thought I should throw it out there. http://mckinleysrvparkandmarina.com/

A little south of there is one of our favorites, Bullards Beach State Beach: http://www.oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=50

Again, they may seem to be too far south but Waldport is only 3 hours from Portland.

Good luck and have a blast.

It has been 6 or 7 years since we traveled the coast so things may have changed. The KOA in Waldport did have some great ocean view sites and was a decent place to stay. In Newport the Pacific Shores Resort is a great place. It used to be an Outdoor Resorts park until they all went broke. I would check before I went there. At one time they were limited to motor homes only. The Port of Newport RV park is right below the bridge on the bay is a nice place. Two great state parks in the area is South Beach on the South end of town and Beverly Beach on the North side of town. If you have not driven 101 South to Florence, take time to make the drive. Stop at the Heceta Head Light House and Sea Lions Cave, a beautiful drive on the coast. In Pacific City, the Cape Kiwanda RV Resort was a nice place. Pretty limited in the Seaside are, Circle City RV Park. Seaside is a great place to hang for a couple of days. Up to Astoria, Ft Stevens State Park of the KOA which is right across the street from the state park. As always, JMHO
