Only get audio no picture when playing DVD

I have a TCL tv with a Jensen head unit can't get a picture when trying to play a dvd only audio. Tried both HDMI inputs and the AV input still no picture.
Any suggestions?

A stand-along DVD player hooked to the TV via HDMI, and hooked to the Jensen?

No the DVD player is in the Jensen unit.

Have you checked the back of the Jensen to be sure the output cables are all connected as they should be? My understanding is the Jensen's are not the best quality, but don't have first hand knowledge.
