Outside lighting

Just a little tip for those needing some outside lighting. I will typically grill out just about every night, and sometimes it is dark before I get finished. Since the Reflection Travel Trailers (at least the 313) don't have a real porch light (and why is this anyway???), I found that if you open your awning just a little, you can turn on your awning lights and really light up the place. Maybe everyone in the camping world knows about this, but I am fairly new to RVing so I thought this might help someone out.

So this was intentional? Interesting. I have seen other TTs and 5ers that have awning lights and porch lights. Seems odd that one would have to open the awning to get light.

Curious that you have to open your awning to use the LED light string.
On our 303RLS, the lights are fully visible with the awning completely closed.

Well, honestly I haven't tried. During the PDI the tech told me that I shouldn't do that. In addition, it appears that the light are covered by the awning when it is closed. But hey, I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight.

On my 337RLS 5W, the awning LED strip WILL turn on and is visible with the awning closed.
If I remember correctly, my owner's manual says NOT to turn on the lights, however, if the awning is closed.
I always wondered why it says that. Maybe a heat problem? Dunno.

On our 337rls the way the awning arms appear not to close tightly against the wall (which they say is normal) leaves the awning roll about 4" away from the LED strip. I don't see how heat can affect anything. And it does light up a pretty big area with awning closed.

Well...I stand corrected. I do not have to open the awning to use the lights. Good for me!

And I am surprised at how bright the lights are on the front of the trailer. I usually have my truck backed up close to the front of the trailer. The lights provide plenty of light when access items in the truck bed.

I actually rarely use the awning lights. They light up most of the campsite with the awning open or closed. When cooking after dark the lights in my outdoor kitchen are more than sufficient. When lounging like I am right now with a few fingers of Glenlivet and a nice Cohiba Behike 54 fire light makes for a nice ambiance.

Being on a seasonal campsite also has nice perks. I installed a nice array of landscape lighting.
