Just a humorous thing happened to me today.

Here is as good as any to post. I wanted to change the password for my lithium battery app on my iPhone. This is to connect to my lithium battery WiFi and get all the stats from it. Initially I selected a password to complicated to remember, wanted to reset it to something more simple for me to remember. Any way the battery manufacturer has to send you a code to type in in order to change the password. They sent it to me in Chinese!

I had to turn on the translator in my email to read their email to get the code!
I finally got the code and reset the password. LOL's

What??? You don't speak fluent Chinese? :pound:

I can relate. I have used a password manager for about 20 years and if I forget to add a new password to it, I'm screwed. I'll never remember it.

Ayup, Roboform as been my constant companion for about that same period of time. :) However I have quit updating when they decided they wanted to go to a subscription service. No thank you very much.

Hey, that what I've been using the entire time. I can't live without it. But what do you mean subscription service? It's always been a pay service but I think I purchased the 3 or 5 year last time. Have they gone now to a monthly subscription?

Yes, it's never been free software, but now they've gone to Roboform Everywhere, which is either a yearly or monthly subscription fee. And in addition to the subscription fee, they also keep a list of your passwords on their servers. Which I absolutely will not agree to. Thank you but I'll take care of my own backups. :) Too many issues with data leakage online.

現在這真的很有趣!!

Call me old fashioned or paranoid but I don't trust any software, web site, windows or google chrome or anything else keeping my critical logins and passwords secured and I don't trust icloud keeping my stuff either like my DD-214.
I always disable cloud saving. The more critical the website, the less electronically saved logins passwords. Example; this forum login/password is remembered electronically, but sites like social security is never remembered or stored anywhere other than by me.

I have a black book specifically formatted for the purpose and hand written by me listing critical web sites, logins and passwords and I keep it updated. My black book and the Wife's grey book are always kept secure by us.

I've been using 1Password since Nov. or so, last year. It is always rated as one of, if not the best password manager available. And yes, it is a service that you pay for. It is available via the web, as a local program on a Win computer, and of course Android. The thing that makes is so secure is that even IF, hackers gained access to the passwords on 1Password's website, not only are they encrypted, but there is no way to un-encrypt them without the "Secret Code" that only YOU have in your possession. That code is not stored on their servers, it's not stored on your home computer, it's not stored on the phone app, and it requires you to put in a password that only you have. My password is an outrageously long password, but 1Password is also accessible via Windows Hello which can be facial recognition, fingerprint, PIN, etc.
