I was looking through the hobbies and was suprised no one had started a photography thread.

I'm by far not a pro but play enough to be a little more than a novice. Thought it would be fun for us all to share our favorite shots. With virtually all of us having a camera in hand with today's phones it gives the option to shoot a pic even if you are not carrying a physical camera.

Anyhow.. here are a couple of recent shots. The first one is a creative play on a photo I took walking on a trail, the perfect eye in the forest came to life with very little manipulation.

2009 Washington State Photographer contest, this was submitted as Section 7, Wild life.
It came in 3rd place but won the People's Choice award for 2 weeks straight while displayed.

The title was "Turtle Car Wash". This is where turtles came to get their shells cleaned on the reefs of Hawaii by those smaller black fish that ate the parasites off their shells.

Funny story, I dove about 50 times 25 feet below the surface while snorkeling off Waikiki. I had a digital underwater "Pro-sumer" camera, about $250 bucks, with a built in flash.

This link below is my montage collection of a small percentage of montages I produced while working as a professional in the side business specializing in youth sports photography. This was my hobby off-work-hours while I was working.

Even moderators can only upload five images at a time - a few more recent digital images:

I enjoy photography - it gives me a creative outlet after writing code and attending meetings all day. I like to take creative liberties with photography whenever I can.
Here's a few, all taken while RVing to various places to visit.
The first is the Airstream Ranch display that used to be on display next to I-4 in Tampa, FL. I believe it was torn down a few years ago. I didn't do much to this one besides amp up the colors. And yes, I was really there standing on the side of the Interstate at 6am to get the sunrise.
The next one is an obvious manipulation - I took the picture of the skeleton while at Fernbank Museum (I think that's where I remember taking the picture anyway), the background was at Orlando Southwest KOA when we visited Legoland, and my kid was taken while sitting on a rail at Falls Lake State Park in NC. I was on a kick and did a whole "dino series" of images with both of my boys.
Third picture is of an abandoned church I happened across while we were camping in Medoc Mountain State Park in NC. I did amp the colors, and removed a powerline which ran to the side of the building.
The last image I decided to share is because it's Memorial Day weekend. The eagle was taken at the Lowry Zoo in Florida, the US Flag was from the side of the road by a Camping World, the POW-MIA was at the Tank Museum in VA (IIRC), and I forget where I took the medal picture.
Anyway - hope you enjoy them!

This is an older picture, but I've never seen such eye popping color as we did in 2008. This photo is on the Cherohala Skyway, which runs from Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC. It is over 40 miles of no houses, no stores, no fuel, no nothing except Cherokee National Forest and Nantahala National Forest.....for a combination name of....Cherohala Skyway. And of course, the background is the Smoky Mountains in the TN/NC area

Great picture WOW.
Reminds me of a trip we took across the parkway with friends during bear hunting season several years ago.
Almost every pull off had hunters with their antennas tracking dogs looking for bears.
Thanks for the memory:

You're welcome Bob. That picture was taken the same day as our "Bear experience". We were on the Skyway on our Honda ST1300 (Sport-Touring bike for those that don't know) and we came around a right-hander that almost immediately flicks back into a left-hander. We straightened it up and started to lean into the lefty and a very large Black Bear jumped over the guardrail on onto the road. He wasn't running full blast, but just kind of a "medium pace" and all the way across the road, jumped that guardrail and kept going into the woods. If we would have been no more than 5 seconds earlier, he might have run right into the side of us. Not even any time to get a quick pic. of the whole thing.

Wow, there are some amazing pics in this group!

The following were taken around the park where our rig is parked "permanently".

My turn from Oregon.

This is Salt Creek Falls, from the top and looting out. This is near the summit of highway 58.

This is January 1st 2011 when I was a ski patroller at Crater Lake. It was the day after a nasty storm.

This is at Chickahominy Reservoir last week. It's just about dead in the middle of the state of Oregon in the desert.

And to go with the Grand Design theme.

And a special view of a special place. KEN
