Howdy folks,

I normally carry our 42-gallon blue tank in the bed of my truck, but I think I've seen somewhere that some folks used a bracket mounted to their ladder to secure it on the back of their camper. Anyone on here do that? What did you use and how is it working for you?

Thanks.

Never mind, after a bit of Googling, I found a Thetford bracket just for this. I ordered it off Amazon. We'll see how it works and I'll post some pics when I get it installed and the tank stowed onto it.

I don't know how heavy your bracket and tote are, but I wouldn't hang anything of any real weight to the ladder. It may support a fair amount of static weight, but jouncing down the highway is a different matter.

Those tanks aren't that heavy (unless they're full ) I hope no one puts a full tank back there!

Ours has a hook just for that purpose. We then tied it to the ladder so it couldn't move. Unfortunately, our trailer design meant that the tank had to block a bit of the rear window in order to have the right tail light visible.

I added a rack to the receiver so I could put the water softener on it, and the tank then rides on top of the tote for the water softener. The whole thing is strapped down with a pair of ratchet straps. Most of the time the tank is MUCH easier to take down or put up this way.

That'd be quite the man to hoist a full tank up onto a ladder! Even 20-gal tank would weigh over 160 lbs! Plus, that'd be just nasty.

Then manual that came with my trailer says not to carry the portable waste water tank on the ladder.

Just sayin

My manual does state that, only DO NOT leave items attached to the ladder while travelling.

Instead of using the ladder get yourself one of these and modify it for your tote tank.
