First trip out this year (2023 Reflection 367BHS) and the dining room awning does not work. It worked when we last used it in Nov 23.

Front awning works fine.

awning lights work fine on both awnings.

Tried to deploy DR awning both from the inside panel and from the phone app. There is no noise or attempted movement of the awning motor.

Any ideas on simple things I can check before trying to take it to the dealer?

thanks,

Bill Lisa,
The awning light wires and the motor wires are different circuits on our RV. The motor wires come out of the side wall and run down the awning arm to the motor on the end of the roller. On ours the motor wires are on the right arm as your looking at the awning. The awning light wires run down the right edge of the awning itself.

The only thing I can suggest on the motor circuit is to look where the awning motor wires come out of the RV at the top side wall. Make sure the awning arms haven't repeatedly closed on the wires and broke or pinched them. That happened to us once. The awning arm closed on top of the wires and broke them. Soldered them back together fixed it. We do have an ATO 12VDC fuse behind the control switch panel. We had to take the switch panel loose, get in behind it and replace the fuse.

BCM wiring diagram

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the "Body Control Module" in the basement? This is where the distribution of DC to individual components occurs. DC Fuse panel has large supply lines but very little direct components powered from the Converter box component.
thanks,

Had a similar issue with our DR awning working fine then nothing. I used the manual over-ride and ran it out and in a few feet to possibly "free-up" the motor. I thought the brushes and rotor might not be making a good connection. Damn if that didn't work. I also took the opportunity to lightly spray silicon grease in the pivot areas. I also wipe the awning struts to keep them clean and free of debris. For the past year I have had no further issues.

My Awning did the same thing. All dealers wanted to do was replace the motor. I removed the motor and disassembled it. I found water had gotten into the motor over the winter because I had parked the camper nose down. I found the brake which is inside the motor assembly had rusted and frozen up. I cleaned it up and haven't had any more problems. It's going on 3 years now. Also if I am leaving it parked for an extended time, I leave the nose up so water drained away from the motors. Don't know if you want to go to all that trouble.
