I have 367BHS that has a powered fan in the kitchen area. Speed controls and vent opening are all controlled from switch on the wall. Is there a vent cover that is large enough to cover the existing setup for use in inclement weather? Tried the MaxxAir II and it isn't tall enough, the existing cap on the fan hits it when opening. Checked the MaxxAir Fanmate EZClip, but doesn't appear that it is tall enough either.

I'm going to get a couple of the MaxxAir II's to cover the vents in bathroom and bedroom loft, but would really like to find something for the powered one as well.

The lid to the fan will not be able to fully open with any cover and is acceptable. I think Maxxair says as long as it opens half or three fourths it's fine. If it's a MaxxAir fan it likely has the EZClips on so it's a 2 min job to install the Maxxair Max II cover. If it is the basic Ventline fan you want the MaxxAir 1 as it works with the built in clips to that fan.

As it is new to me, I'm not really sure what it has. Haven't really looked at it that closely. I do know that the existing fan is all motorized, so I'm worried that if it doesn't open all the way if the motor will stop when it hits resistance, or if it will return to a closed position, or if it will burn the motor out trying to open the lid when it hits.

Maxxair says 50% open is ok.

"All vent covers are approximately the same height. All automatic opening lids on high-powered fans are equipped with current sensing circuits that will automatically shut off the lift motor when an obstruction is encountered or the lid reaches the end of its travel. This is normal and will not cause excess wear or shorten the life of the fan. The small amount that the lid does not open underneath a vent cover has no effect on the airflow. Our testing has shown that once the lid is open approximately 50% that the fan will achieve maximum airflow. It is safe to install a vent cover on any style high-powered fan."

I too use the MaxAir II vent covers (black, to block extra light) on both the powered kitchen exhaust fan and the manual bathroom fart fan. The powered fan opens up an stops in 2 or 3 seconds after hitting the cover.... and it's worked fine for 6 years now.
On a side note while you're up on the roof installing the cover fully open the powered fan and clean the underside with a good spray wax cleaner like you would use on shower walls. Wax it well especially where the cover will make contact with the rubber seal. Also put a very very light coat of plumbers grease on the top of the seal. ... this will help keep the vent from sticking when trying to open after sitting closed for a few weeks.

We use the Maxxair II vent cover on our OEM Maxxair Plus Roof Vent (auto open/close w/rain guard).

Yes, the Maxxair II does interfere a little with the Plus Roof Vent lid when opening. The opening lid motor on the Plus Roof Vent lid is pressure controlled. In other words, it will stop opening when it touches the Maxxair II vent cover or the lever that the lid cover is attached to rests against the Plus Roof vent body.

BTW: Over time, we had to replace the original operator mechanism which opens and closes the lid (below) because it broke into pieces due to being made of a light weight metal and riveted together. I contacted the manufacturer parts dept on this and they explained that the original part maybe weak and could break over time. Might consider getting one of these if you own the Maxair Plus Roof Vent. The new ones are still made from light weight metal but is bolted together. They are fairly easy to replace, however, it does require to get on the roof to do so. 71sxpxyczjL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
