Pre-Purchase Checklist

Hi all,

I have a verbal acceptance on buying a used GD 278BH 5th Wheel (2023). It checks all our personal buttons for what we need and want.
If I was buying it from a dealer, I wouldn't be too concerned, but from a private seller, things are different.

Does anyone have ideas for a pre-purchase checklist - the things I need to ensure are in working order before signing on the dotted line?

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Take a look at this thread (https://www.mygrandrv.com/forum/showthread.php/10794-Pre-Delivery-Inspection-Forms-(Multiple)). There are several lists there. If you have reason to be concerned about the condition of this used trailer, what about getting a professional inspection done? Yes, they can be a bit pricey, but if you find something that might pop up down the line, wouldn't that be money well spent?

Thank you, Stephen. I appreciate that link. Yes, I have considered a professional inspector, received quotes and still might go that direction. You are right, would be money well spent. Thanks again.

I would say, even if you hire someone, go over every square inch yourself also. I had a list when I bought my 310. I told the dealership beforehand that I wanted to do a full inspection and it would probably take a couple of hours. Dealership didn’t bat an eye and were very accommodating and had all systems up and running with water and everything when the time came. I crawled over, under and through everything I could. Take notes and don’t do a final sign or pay until all issues are taken care of. Buddy of mine walked through his used car lot trailer in under 30 minutes before signing papers. He didn’t know how anything worked or if it even did until he asked me to go with to pick it up. Wiring harness had a short and no tail/signal lights worked consistently, large water leaks, black tank wasn’t emptied and had dried into a giant brick, etc… Didn’t know he was even thinking of buying one or I would have gone with to check it out before he bought it.
