Pricing for new Truck

As mentioned in a previous post I am considering a new truck, F-450 Lariat trim, ordered for build. The pricing I have recieved back is MSRP plus taxes and fees, less any rebate available at time of delivery. I know Ford superduty trucks have been a bit scarce over the last years so maybe MSRP is the going rate. Any thoughts on what I should expect to pay, or what discount , if any I should negotiate for?

As always, thanks for comments.
I paid $ 108.000 for my 2024 limited dually. They wouldn't come down a dime. Still worth it, they're pretty nice

When I was looking in early 2024, limiteds were around $116K, about $8 to 10K over MSRP! That's why I waited and did X-plan for my 2024 Platinum. I didn't like that the Limited only had the one interior.

At the end of Covid, we had to wait 6 months for a 150 Platinum. Got it for $5k under retail and 60 months 0% financing. Recently went to look at 250 class. The prices were just outrageous, so not happening right now.

Ordered a 25 F450 Lariat (non-HO 6.7) in darkened bronze metallic at MSRP with a few add ons (hitch, tough bed, baja seats, etc.) in early October & total out the door is a bit under $92K. It'll be 6 months in early April since I ordered and I just got another 45 day status update from ford saying they'll let me know when it goes into production. The wait is starting to get old...

Membership in the Experimental Aircraft Association ($48/year) includes access to Ford’s X-plan. I purchased thru the X-plan 6 years ago although I believe some of the details of the program have changed since. Might be worth investigating.
I recently joined the EAA to get the X-plan pricing on a new F350 and found out after joining there is a 90 day waiting period to use it. Fortunately, my dealer honored the X-plan price anyway.

You might reach out to Granger Ford in IA to see what their pricing is right now. They do pricing below or above invoice so you know where you're at from the start. It would at least provide a good comparison. I drove from MN as nobody could come close to their pricing in 2022.

Chip Giles is the guy I worked with in case you want to reach out: [email protected]

If you don't get a response from Chip at that email, I've corresponded with him via [email protected] and [email protected]

Update on the purchasing of this new truck. I inquired at 9 dealerships, mostly in NC but a couple out of state. Two dealers never responded, including the dealer I have bought 6 new work trucks from in the last year, go figure. All except one quoted MSRP or higher. Many were just plain obtuse when it came to pricing. I sent a detailed build sheet and got quotes for a variety of different vehicles, as if they never read my request. The first dealer to respond also turned out to be the most straight forward and best price at $83,300 out the door. F450, 4X4, standard diesel engine, Lariat trim with $1,400.00 in added options and a 20K lbs tag. I think this is close to invoice. I got a notice from Ford for a May 5th build date. David Watson at Odom Ford in LaGrange, NC has been very easy to deal with.
Thanks to everyone that helped me with this process. This forum is such a helpful place.

I received a status update from Ford last week saying the build date for mine is the week of 5 May as well. It will be 7 months since ordering - I did get MSRP pricing which seems to be about the best you can do on 450's currently.

Is there fine print about tariffs potentially affecting price? Or all the trucks made by the big three USMCA compliant?

At least for Ford, I think they're still trying to figure out what parts are USMCA compliant but tariffs will affect those parts & engines that don't fall under USMCA which are built in Canada & Mexico. I'm assuming this would affect new orders but current orders in the system that have signed customer contracts would not be affected (my assumption). I did read where Ford will be reducing their cost to help alleviate the tariff increase however.

New truck delivered. I guess I got lucky with my order date if they build F-450's in April. The people at LaGrange Ford made delivery very easy, I was in and out in less than an hour. I was going to sell my F-350 myself but I kept getting update emails from Kelly Blue Book that the price for that truck was dropping, about 4-5% in a month. I decided to just trade it and save myself the hassel of selling it. I got $41,500 for 2019 F-350 Lariat 53,000 mile, seems low. I am OK with it though because I can move on.

This new truck's bed is about 2 1/2" taller than the old F-350 so I think I will not need to adjust the hitch. This one is 4WD, the other was not. As others have comented, the F-450 turning radius is so much tighter, that is the reason I switched to this model. Hopefully that will help my manuvering in tight state parks. We are looking forward to our first trip, later this month I hope. Luckily, I did not have to contend with tariff pricing.

You have to watch the turning radius in parking lots! It turns so sharply you might clip other parked cars. I haven't hit anything yet, but a couple of close calls!

FYI- Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL is advertising $100 over invoice on all new trucks.
They claim to be the biggest Ford truck dealer and have quite a few in inventory.

You could fly in and drive out.

A few weeks ago I would have said its crazy to still be asking MSRP for HD's. But (this is pure speculation) I think your going to see more of this due to the tariffs. Any HD ram that didn't cross the border prior to Tuesday just got 25% more expensive (Contingent on how much Ram decides to supplement the cost) which will make them pretty uncompetitive. A good portion of Chevy HD's the same. I have no idea how GM will handle it. I doubt you'll see just the Chevy's from CA be marked up. They may spread the costs over all the trucks. And who knows about the parts that go into the Ford's, GMC's, and remaining Chevy's still manufactured in the states.

Edit: looks like Auto's are getting a one month pause in tariffs. Not sure if it will affect ordered trucks though. They won't be here in 30 days.
All three of my GM duallys were made in the USA. they have a sticker on the door stating this.
I have never paid MSRP for any vehicle, auto or RV.
Send out emails across the US stating what exactly what you want. Let them know that you are soliciting bids . so they are competing against other dealers. give then all the same firm deadline. Sit back and watch the bids come in.
Have the cash ready to complete the sale in advance.

To obtain that rating requires that greater than 50% of the vehicle is made from parts manufactured in the US or Canada. The numbers vary somewhat based on the source but GM trucks look to obtain 25% - 30% of their parts from countries other than the US or Canada. This means they will be affected by the tariffs to some degree. I'm also not sure where the tariff issue finally fell in regards to Canadian parts but I recall seeing examples of things like transmissions making multiple trips across the border before being installed in a vehicle here in the US.

After almost 8 long months, my F450 Lariat was finally delivered! I paid MSRP and no TAVT ($6K) due to DV status. We retire in a couple of years so we have some time before purchasing our fiver, been looking at the 337RLS over the last year or so.
