Hi Everyone,
This is my 4th time out using my camper. I have been taking my 30lb. propane tank out while camping for using it with cooking, firepit, etc.
I was putting the tank back in and noticed a hissing sound and propane smell. I narrowed it down to the regulator vent leaking. I am pretty sure that the regulator needs to be replaced. I purchased a 2014 reflection 303rls and am wondering if any regulator will work or does it need to be anything in particular. I am planning on installing it myself. Any thoughts are appreciated.

My regulator when bad in the same way after 18 months. I replaced it with a 2 stage Mr. Heater version from Camping World. I was leaving the next day so I had to get one fast. I now carry a spare regulator.

Thanks Kevin,
I think that is a good idea to just carry a spare. I hope to pick one up tomorrow! Thanks for the reply!

Which side of your coach is leaking?

If it is the right side, it uses a single stage, high pressure regulator (mine was 30 psi).

If the leaking regulator is on the left side, then you have a two stage regulator with a tank selector switch.

Be sure you get the proper regulator.

Also, please ensure you do not use normal (white) Teflon tape or normal pipe dope on the threads. Propane requires a special Gas approved (yellow) thread tape and sealant (I use both tape and sealant). The yellow tape and sealant can be purchased from Home Depot or Lowes (Lowes carries the yellow sealants next to their Gas water heaters).

Hi David,
It is the side with the single regulator. Thank you for pointing that out. I was just going today to pick up a two stage regulator. Thanks for your info on using the yellow vs. white tape. I never thought about the sealant, but I think I will get some now. I also noticed the regulator was attached (stuck to the corner) with a black rubber-like material. I am also not sure what that is. LOL, so much to learn. Thanks again for your response.

I also had a very knowledgeable person in a RV supply store tell me that when you purchase a new regulator be sure you get one that has the vent oriented the same way as the one you took off. My sons camper had it oriented down towards the ground.

Thanks Tim!
I happened to find one online. No RV supply store had any. Thanks for responding! It did have the downward vent, so I feel good knowing that!
