Propane smell

Well…. New regulator installed thought I had it, sniffer didn’t detect at first. After a few minutes sniffer went off. Doesn’t seem as bad as it was but not passing wife smell test.
Seems maybe leaking from pipe connections. Used pipe thread sealant.
The yellow teflon tape?

If you know where the leak is, soap and water will probably tell you whether it’s the threads or a bad hose.

Have you ruled out the tanks themselves? When you turn the valve off does the propane smell go away?

Hoses from tank to regulator are prone to issues unless treated carefully.

Detergent and water (a lot of detergent), as previously mentioned is good approach or this and a combination of adjusting tester so it barely does not sound while probe is in general area that has leak and then move probe around area to see if you can find some area with higher concentrations of gas.

Adjust this way only once you know there is a leak, which you already have done.
