Pulled the trigger on a new 388M

My wife (Sandy) and I decided we wanted a toy hauler so we started looking at them online. After online searching I was leaning toward a GD she was leaning toward a Voltage. Since our last RV (2013 Keystone Avalanche 341TG) had a lot of issues when we first got it I wanted the best RV I could find. We took a trip to Elkhart Indiana and started touring RV manufacturers. GD was head and shoulders above the other manufacturers that we toured, Primetime Spartan was second. I personally feel their PDI is way better.... I hope I don't have to eat those words when we get our new RV. So after touring we were set on a 385TH, but then we stopped by an open house on our way home. The 388M and 385TH were side by side, we went back and forth and finally decided on the 388M because of the 14' garage, bed not in the slide and we didn't like the double doors (one from garage/one from main living area) on the 1/2 bath on the 385TH. Next was finding the best deal possible. I think we found it at Greeneway RV in Wisconsin Rapids, Wi. The owner is very personable and the price was right. We got every option except the 3rd AC and the lawn chairs. Now we just hurry up and wait.

Congrats... and I hope to be joining the GD owners soon, myself. I hope you enjoy your new rig.

Thanks for the welcomes! We are very excited and looking forward to it's arrival. Then I have to start all the modifications. We do not camp like normal people... we do a lot of week long festivals where it's strictly party time. We set up a lot of activities...beer pong table, flip cup table, lighted HD bags, wheel of fun, 15" Yamaha PA speakers, 15" sub woofer, thru a mixer coming from the laptop that is feeding audio to the mixer and HDMI video to a projector to a 100" screen. We do play a good variety of videos! I also feed 2 wireless mic's to the mixer... turn way down for drunk singers and up for good singers ;). I need to start designing and alum framed wet bar on wheels!!! But, I also have dirt bikes and plan to get a 12" boat I can haul in the garage, so I can spend more time with my grandsons, son and son-in-law. I am a firm believer that kids that hunt, fish, and do motor sports with the male role models in their life.... have less time for destructive activities.

Yes, welcome to a wonderful forum ! Our 303 came from Greeneway RV as well. Top rated family owned and operated dealership. Have had some conversations and emails with them and they were prompt and extremely helpful.

You all sound like you know how to have a good time ! Imagine the green (and gold ?...GO PACK GO !!!) libations will be flowing today. If you are Packers fans we need to hook up with you all next fall when we go to Lambeau for a game......if my liver can handle it !!!

Hahaha so you won't party with us if we are not Packer fans? After 21 years in the Navy traveling and living in different NFL markets I never established and allegiance to any one team.... kinda a Bears fan because I was in Chicago (GreatMistakes) from 83-87. Wife is and has always been a Steelers fan. So living in packer nation would be more fun if they would loose more often! LOL Come to Hodag in Rhinelander ... the best 10 day party there is! My check liver light is normally flashing by the 3rd day but I push thru!

Called down and talked to my contact at the factory...my 388M should come off the line April 17th then head over for PDI and out for delivery...so I should have it NLT the end of April.

Made a phone call and our unit is supposed to come off the line on April 17th and go to PDI, should have it by the end of April. Waiting really stinks.

Got our new truck yesterday and have the B&W Companion ready to go. Now just need my new 388M to hook up to. I guess there was a week delay for some reason. I will have to call Thursday and see where it's at.

Funny Toes!!! I hope they don't forget the big G on the front and the #12 on the ramp!!!! I just called my contact again. It came off the line on the 22nd and is over in the PDI building #3. He is going down to take a look and make sure everything looks good and hopefully impress on the workers to take extra good care of this one!!! I had asked for a medicine cabinet to be installed in the rear half bathroom instead of just a mirror. Doesn't sound like that got done ... so that will be one of my first projects before I start upgrading the sound system.

Our new RV is at the dealership (Greeneway RV in Wisconsin Rapids) I don't know if I should be pissed off or happy. They rcv'd it yesterday, but are telling me that I can't come get it till atleast the 13th. Apparently the service department that the owner told me is so good.... is backed up. They can't complete a thorough PDI before then. They have a guy scheduled here and there numerous days to complete the PDI. The last dealer I purchased from had a PDI checklist that someone just put checks in the box but never really checked anything, so I ended up fixing A LOT OF STUFF. I guess as long as I get a RV that is trouble free I will be a happy camper.

Rob & Sandy,
Noticed your signature. Thanks for your service. I am a retired FTCM, USCG retired. If I can ask, which system(s) did you maintain. I worked GFCS Mk 56, FCS Mk 92, Harpoon, and CIWS.

dloase,
Thank you for your service as well. I started out on a frigate in San Diego working on AN/SPG51 fire control radar and the old MK 152 computer system, Then went to Great Mistakes AKA Lakes... and taught Fire Control A school. After that USS Wainwright CG28 out of Charleston. I worked on the AN/SPG-53 Fire Control Radar (MK 68 system with the old analog MK 47 computer). Boy was that fun all those synchros, servos and huge pots! NGFS was fun. Then I went back to Great Mistakes and pushed boots. After that i went to work at Commander Western Hemisphere Group out of Mayport where I did inspections and casrep assistance etc... for 16 different ships. Finished up my 21 years in-charge (zone Supervisor) for Navy Recruiting in northern Wi and half of da UP of Mi. No I do all the computer, network, satellite, 88D doppler radar, and the electronics at 6 airports for the National Weather Service. 6 more years and I will be eligible to retire again!!!!

Rob,
Great Mistakes - brings back some old memories. The CG didn't have their own fire control school, back in the day so that is where I received my FT training. I also spent some time in Dam Neck for enhanced training. Yes I remember synchros, servos and hugh pots in the NGFS computer. Back in the day, we were training Navy personal here on the 56 and the Navy had us install a MK1A. That was interesting as the CG didn't use the 1A in our application. I have been back in the training field teaching the next generation of CG and foregin nationals the ins and outs of fire control. I served on two cutters, precommisioned four others, did inspections and casrep assistance for all 25 CG cutters with fire control, spent time as an instructor and then later the school chief. I was also the Rate Training Master Chief for the fire control rating and ended my career as the Program Manager for Fire Control and 2M/MTR. 26 years and lots of fun. I have been back as a GS working as a training specialist. Unlike you I have another 10 years before I retire again.
