I'm in my second career after retiring from law enforcement and have 5 more years to work. My wife and I can work from anywhere so we want to start doing so, elsewhere, in the new RV. Our 2500RL is fine for when we are typing, but meetings during the weekdays are what we are trying to figure out. I'm half deaf in one ear, have a deep resonant voice, and am just a loud guy on top of that. I'm searching for work from the road ideas for the two of us and not really coming up with much that would work; for one yes, but not for two. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to have two people work from a smaller RV and need to have video/telephone calls at the same time as the other. During good weather I'm fine working outside. But there will inevitably be bad weather during the most important calls. I've thought about sound deadening curtains, using the bathroom , etc. Anyhow, I'm hoping that some owners here have come up with a solution that works for two adults working from a smaller RV. Thanks! Mike

One set up in the bedroom and one set up in the rear living area?

You would have 2 doors between you, and both have exterior doors to enter/exit.

Maybe alternate days to switch it up (unless one prefers one location over the other)

Very hard to do in one of these RVs. I too have a deep voice the resonates and even in our stick built with solid core doors, it travels to where she and/or meeting participants over the phone could hear it. So not sure if you both have jobs that require phone usage or talking with others that that sound could be blocked very well and not be disruptive to others.... including close by CG neighbors.... LOL!

Could try running the AC fan full time and cycling the compressor when cooled air is needed. My wife does this at night while sleeping in our RV to counter any CG, road, rail, or other nearby noises. Using head phones with a microphone (like call centers do) could also be an alternative.

During the pandemic lock-down, Nikki and I traveled extensively and maintained our work remotely. I too have a booming voice and, because of the nature of her work, Nikki has to maintain complete privacy. I found it very easy to take web meetings from my truck when needed when the weather wasn't great. We'd typical chase mild temperatures so we'd also set up our screen room, which also has solid sidewall panels, and we rather enjoyed switching off using that space as the second office.

Consider using MacBooks and noise canceling headphones. Macs are good at blocking noise on the microphone for calls and meetings.

Thank you. Good advice but our employers issue Windows PCs.

Thank you. When you say screen room, can you explain that a bit more? I am new to RVs and understand it form a residential perspective but unfamiliar with them on an RV.

Thank you. There is not an AC in the world loud enough to drown me out! Good idea and thanks again!

We considered that. But it seems a bit tight. I considered the bathroom as an option also, chair at the end of the bed and small desk sitting in the bath.

Airpods work quite well with PCs.

That is the configuration I am using, as I type.

They completely block out the fan noise from the two HEPA air filters in my room.

Thank you very much. The next time we take her out we'll give the airpods a shot. My boss works from her RV 5 weeks on and five weeks at home. Her ACs were pumping a lot of noise through her airpods. But, she has a 37 foot fiver.

During Covid we saw a man who was working remotely while many of his colleagues were in the office. He set up for his video call on the picnic table with a beautiful outdoor background for his call. Yes, he said he was making his colleagues jealous.

I work for a Fortune 50. We had about 40% of work at home roles pre-covid. Today, we are at close to 80% (we cancelled leases and sold property...that is how committed they are to this model). Working from the road, more specifically RVs, is not nearly as uncommon as one might think. As a matter of fact, my boss is on the road for 5 weeks then back home for 5, then repeats. We're pretty lucky. We can also work from most countries outside of the USA with advanced notice. In the USA we can work from wherever we wish.

My wife and I worked out of our rv for about a year and a half. Had the same problem you mentioned. I’m loud on meetings, campground background noise (lawn mowers, neighbors etc). We installed a software product called krisp. They have it available for both Mac and pc. Was able to get the free version to try out. We ended up upgrading once we found out how well it worked. No cost to give it a try. You can be talking on one virtual meeting while she’s talking on another and no one will know.

My wife and I both also work 100% remote. We have a 2023 2670mk. We both have windows laptops. I bought a little lap desk. If we both are in meetings at the same time - I can take my laptop into the bedroom, close the door and sit on the bed. That's enough to keep my, also booming, voice from interrupting her meeting. Do you have Starlink? It's been fantastic for being in the middle of nowhere and having fast, reliable, internet.

Having a head set with your voice volume raised and you will quickly talk much quieter. Adjust the volume in the weak ear high enough to hear well.

Consider having hearing tested. We talk much louder when we don't hear ourselves well. Costco tests are free with no pressure to buy plus their prices are the best. Free trial for 6 months.
PHP:

The frequencies that have more loss can be adjusted to some degree with some headphones and software.

I already wear one hearing aid as I lost half of my hearing during a shooting while with the Chicago PD. But thank you very much for that advice!

Starlink is number one on our list. I hear it is just awesome. Thank you!
