I'm thinking of taking our 337 (13'6" clearance) to Maine in June. I am curious if anyone has routes suggestions.
Trip Wizard is showing an option that is a bit longer (hour and a half) choice with leaving Raleigh and staying north of DC, Baltimore Philly on 81 and connecting with 95 right above New York city.
If I just take 95 all the way I know what's it's like Raleigh to DC but never north of that.
Since it is the same once we get above NY not sure its worth the extra time.
Just looking for experience suggestions on routes in general.
Lastly, I see Bar Harbor Oceanside KOA looks ok but any suggestions around Bar Harbor would be appreciated.
Just want to be reasonably close to family that live in Bar Harbor.
Thanks!

If at all possible avoid coming through NYC on Rt 95. We found one good route: pick up Rt 287 in NJ, follow to 684 to 84 to 90. We enjoyed Mt Desert Narrows Campground in the Bar Harbor region. If you're planning to visit Acadia NP, book early. With the cuts in park staff, who knows what things will be like this year?

I personally would not stay at KOA Oceanside (not on the ocean). It is very expensive, crowded and the gulls will make a mess of your awning and outside gear

We always stay at The Bar Harbor Campground. It is the largest and closest to the village of Bar Harbor

It always was the cheapest as well (44/night FH) but they sold it last year to a corporation and the prices have doubled. Still likely the cheapest for the size of the lots and privacy.

I avoid I-95 with the RV and hate it completely when not towing anything - won't travel I-95 through NYC and CT even with nothing in tow. When I head to NC, I pull I-84 through Port Jervis and pick up I-81 in PA. @Soundsailor suggested route would be my second choice. By all means, stay off of I-80 in NJ. They are having huge problems with massive sink holes opening up almost weekly and shutting the route down.

I-95 from north of Washington DC to the other side of NYC has always been a mess when we've taken it (trailer or no trailer). The last time we went up to the New England area we took I-81 to I-84 in order to miss I-95. We did take I-95 on our way back since we were going to spend a few days in Washington DC. It took us hours to get through NYC and across the George Washington bridge. After that we decided we would never take that route again and instead will come back down I-81 and take I-70/270 to I-495 (Cherry Hill Park campground). It is a longer route but the traffic is much better.

Thanks everyone !!
Sounds like good advice
I can travel a lot better moving than sitting in traffic 😁
Even if some more miles

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Oceanside KOA last Fall. Site’s are plenty long enough (ours 324MBS is 37’) a bit close together, but it’s not a bad campground. Really nice walking around it at night. There’s a body of water, ( don’t recall what) at the back of the campground. Pretty views of the city across the water. Spectacular star viewing if the skies are clear. The campground is 8 miles from the entrance to Acadia National park and 10 miles into town. Super convenient and we’d stay there again. There’s a Walmart about 20 min away.

Also want to agree with SoundSailors route advice

Have fun, it’s beautiful up there. If you can wait until late Sept or early October, even better
