RAM Cummins Air Filter caution - you may get the wrong one from dealer
Since I had my air filter changed in Feb while visiting daughter in North Carolina, I've been getting very frequent DPF active regenerations. I'm on my third one on this tank of fuel. 70 highway miles and it will go off again tomorrow. By chance, saw a post on HDRAMS forum where others were complaining about the same frequent regens and one tech said it's because Mopar is showing the wrong air filter PN for pre-2022 6.7L Cummins.
I checked to see what air filter the dealer installed. If they put 68517554AA in the stock air box, Mopar website specifies that this number is only valid for 2022 Cummins and gas engines. Mopar 53034051AB (or Fleetguard AF27684) is the correct air filter for pre-2022 Cummins.
Called the NC dealer and the parts guy pulled up my VIN and sure enough it supersedes with the wrong PN. But there was also a tech tip explaining that this was NOT the correct filter for pre-2022 Cummins. They are sending me the correct filter. This is apparently a glitch in Mopar's ordering system so it may be system-wide and the dealer is escalating this up to Stellantis.
Here is the Hdrams link for anyone interested. https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/regens-at-alarming-rate.11413/page-5#post-267321
