Ramp door weep holes

I've noticed that the ramp door on my unit will occasionally puke out water when lowering it after being in the rain. Sometimes this happens days later, so I'm pretty sure there's water trapped somewhere in it.

I guess Lippert thinks so, too. Here's a link to the technical information about adding weep holes in the bottom. Has anyone here done it?

It's definitely something to keep an eye on. Our previous trailer ramp door started getting soft, even though it was virtually never left open in the rain. When I started examining it, I could see why. Almost none of the bolts were sealed, the metal framework wasn't sealed where it came together, so every time it rained, even with the door closed, rain got into the door. It wasn't even sealed around the edge of the door floor that butted up against the metal frame, just...nothing. Needless to say I've checked over our Momentum pretty closely, and it's sealed pretty darned well. All along the floor where it butts up against the metal, the bolts are ALL sealed both inside and out, any mounting structure is caulked and sealed. It has no sign that says Certified Weather Proof, and it's a 2019, but it looks to be sealed quite well. And no water runs out the bottom, even when left open in the rain, although we try not to do that too often. Why push your luck? :)

Interesting I’ve found this with mine occasionally. Water will nearly pour out of the lower bolts when bringing the door down so I’ll look into this.

Thanks for this info, my 320G after every rain has leaked water when I lower the door. I was told the door itself is sealed, and no water can get into it, but never like the water leaking out.

Everyone may want to also check, I had some water come into the garage at the rear door after driving in some rain. Tracked it down to the seam between the upper metal framework of the door and the fiberglass, they did not do a great job sealing it. I resealed it, and that fixed it.

Ordered the parts, it was taking me too long to try to find a match so the heck with it, $25 shipping is worth my time driving around to find the, lol.

It looks like this is for newer Momentums. We have a 2017 350M and have had to have the door replaced once and the ramp part of the garage floor twice. Does anyone have any advice on the older model?

Seal all around any of the bolts and nuts, ALL of them. In fact I would seal around them when installed. Also seal everywhere there is the least little gap. Our last trailer, not a Grand Design, had a damaged ramp due to nothing being sealed. The water ran in at all the corners and around all the bolt heads. Silly me for thinking that would be done by the factory. DOH.

Washed the trailer yesterday, and checked the weep holes while it was drying. Sure enough, both had a small amount of water draining out of them, and when I put the door down, no other water drained out of the door. Problem solved.
