After talking with my dealer they said to contact GD on the cost of/feasibality of changing out the recliner sofa with a sleeper sofa in my 369RL. Of course this was the same answer I received when I asked about obtaining doors for the upper cabinet area in the bathroom.

so
1) What is the cost/feasibality of changing out the recliner sofa with a sleep sofa?
2) How does one obtain a set of doors for the upper cabinet area in the bathroom?

Great Questions

We would also be interested in changing out the recliner sofa. I will watch this conversation and hopefully GD will respond.

We contacted GD directly and they shipped us one cabinet door. I might check into getting a second one as it would make that space look cleaner. Although the lower shelf is where we set the toilet paper because there didn't seem to be a good pace to mount the tp holder.

As far as the doors are concerned I contacted our dealer. They had doors shipped to us--two of them--but it cost us $175 for them.

Keep us posted on whether they can get a sofa through the door. I would be interested in knowing. I think these things are sometimes built around some of the furniture. A friend of ours pretty much had to destroy a sofa in order to get it out of his Wildcat.

Before we bought the 369 we had only seen it with the sofa bed and thought that there was no other option. So I was surprised to find that our dealer only orders the Solitudes with a recliner sofa!

We asked the dealer if it could be exchanged and they said no... unless we purchased the sofa bed and paid for shipping from the factory. They did have another suggestion... a blow up mattress that is placed in top of the recliner sofa. IMG950035.jpgWe decided against that.

Guess we'll be using a blow up mattress on the floor in front of the the recliner sofa when we have overnight company!

I was really hoping to avoid the air mattress as it will probably be my wife and I using it to sleep. Her parents (82 & 80) want to go with us, and I don't see them using the air mattress.

The Sofa Recliners will come out in 3 pieces and there should not be any problem putting a sofa bed in now. They are bolted down to the floor. We watched them install these at the factory and the furniture was one of the last things that they put in.

Navigator ... Don't buy the blow up bed!!!

Our dealer recommended it to us as well and we purchased it ($300)... No returns allowed! Well the problem is the cushions do not come off the sofa; therefore the sofa is way too tall. The end part of the blow up curves way up instead of laying flat as shown in the pix. we now carry two plastic containers and turn them upside down to support the top part of the mattress, using the taller end as the "head" of the bed. Wish we had waited!!

Hi David and Linda (@dloase), and Jeff and Cathy (@Jeff K),

We apologize for any confusion... Our dealers are the exclusive distributors for Grand Design replacement parts. Requests for quotes need to be submitted to your dealer.

Best regards,

I have calls/emails in to some "local" dealers. Unfortunantly, the dealer I purchased my 379RL from last year no longer carries the Grand Design line, make this a much more difficult experience. Still waiting to hear back from one of the other dealers.

Yes, installation is possible on a completed unit. The assembly can be broken down to fit through the entry door.

Dave and Linda -

Tried to send you a private message about our experiences with local dealers, but got the following error message "dloase has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

Received a quote from the dealer. The estimate was anywhere between $1791 to $2020 plus tax. I don't seeing this being a good investment. Guess we will explore other options.

We ordered the sleeper sofa upgrade with our 369RL and love it. Especially after reading posts from several others that the recliners sometimes extend out and damage the slide outs when extending them.

Smart move on your part. We took model on the lot with the stipulation they got us the hideabed, which is written in our contract....that was 9 months ago...let it slide for awhile as they said they would have to order one then swap them out. The pressure is on now though enough is enough...I could've had a baby( heaven forbid at my age) in this length of time
