Martin and I will be taking the GD Factory tour October 26. Does anyone have any suggestions on a place to stay while there? I got online to research and it appeared to be somewhat limited, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For somewhere different you might try the Essenhaus Inn & Conference Center
In Middlebury, about 15-20 minutes from the factory.

Thanks! I'll check it out!

I can't tell you where TO stay.
However, earlier this month when I went to the Midwest RV Show and did the factory tour (GREAT TIME), I found out the Travel Lodge is NOT where to stay.
I'll say it again - do NOT stay at the Travel Lodge in Elkhart.

Hope it helps,

Thanks Clint, this is the kind of info I was looking for.

We will NOT stay at the Travel Lodge in Elkhart.

It does help!

Stayed at Essennhaus a few weeks ago. They have car show onsite Thursday nights during summer, not sure if still in October.

And check out Rullis Italian Restaurant across the road and down a half block (back part of restaurant is separate sports bar)

Thanks for the restaurant recommendation James. That's just as important as the sleeping accommodations! We'll definitely check it out!.

The campground has some cabins available, log construction and not too bad! We stayed in one while the Grand Design service center did warranty and body work. Refrigerator and microwave only, we believe.

Great suggestion Steve! We are KOA members so I checked out the Middlebury KOA facilities. They've won a couple awards this year. I reserved a sweet little cabin with bath and mini kitchen, deck, grill and fire ring. All for about $30 less a night than for a nice room in a motel, but a lot more fun. Having a campfire in October will be so much more enjoyable than just sitting in a motel room.
