Had the fireplace front cover (glass) fall off and shatter while driving down the road. This cover is “locked” into place, and needs to be physically lifted off so this does not happen. Has anyone had this happen? I was going to call Grand Design and tell them that they should send me a new one at no cost. It is at a dealer right now being looked at. To make matters worse one of the pieces of broken glass, that we missed got under one of the slide outs and ripped the flooring!

I am sorry this happened. I wouldn't be too happy! Was your secured with two screws? Mine is. I had this same fire place in my previous Cougar and traveled with it for a couple of years with no issues.
Maybe they didn't secure it with the screws at the factory?

it’s the slotted type, there two screw heads on each side, it slides down a groove and locks into place at the screw heads

Yes. That’s what I have. Had it in my previous Cougar and had no problems. Must be a defective one.

Yes, it was secured with two screws, come to find out later that in fact it was from excessive exterior heat (100 degree weather) on the fireplace that cause the glass to explode. The dealer had told me that they were working on another Grand Design and came in the next morning and found the glass from fireplace all over the floor. Regardless this should not be happening and I think it should be a warranty issue with Grand Design ?
