Recently purchased 2021 Reflection 268RSKS. Not familiar withe camper yet. Need to know the location of the slideout motor for the kitchen. Spoke with a tech at Grand Design and he said it was opposite the slide under the belly of the camper. Is this where I need to start? Slideout not working, checked fuses, wiring, and found 12v constant on the out terminal of the rocker switch. Any help is appreciated!

I've honestly never heard of that model...don't know where to start.

Is it a Lippert boom slide or Schwintek?

It is the rack and pinion. I spoke with a Grand Design tech and he said sounded like the motor was grounded. He also said the motor is on the opposite side of the slide directly across from the gold bell shaped device on the slide arm. Is this correct or am I going fishing without bait?

Well, never trust someone else to tell you what the model is off the cuff. It's a 297RSTS. Wow, I feel I should be removed from the scene! First trailer, first few months being able to camp in it. Been in the shop for 5 months after a tree fell on it shortly after the purchase. Sorry for the confusion

Sounds like you have a thru the frame rack and pinion system. If you look on the side of the trailer opposite the slide, you should see a hole, usually with a grommet in it. Your trailer should have a special socket wrench shaped like a crank. Use that wrench to poke through the hole and engage the nut on the end of a leadscrew. Turn the wrench and it will move the slide in and out. It takes a lot of turning but will get the job done, at least enough movement so you can see the motor that drives the slide. i believe the hex is 3/4" so any socket wrench and extension should work. To actually get at the motor, you must drop the coroplast fabric in the area you need to access.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I would see if I could get the rack slide to move manually by using the override shaft coming through the opposite side frame. However our rig does not have a hole in the side skirt to access the override shaft with a 3/4 inch nut attached with the crank handle. Our slides are too deep to stick the crank handle through the side skirt and get to the override shaft nut. Only our spare tire winch can be accessed through the side skirt hole.

If the slide will move manually, At least that would tell you the rack and gearing is ok and the slide will move. Then its a matter of figuring out if power is getting to the motor/clutch or if its just the motor that needs fixed/replaced.

That sounds correct, it won't be accessible without taking down the underbelly cover.

After a long day of searching I found the slideout motor. Cut both wires, hooked a 12v battery to it and it worked fine in both directions. No ground to the rocker switch in the panel inside the camper. Have 12v constant to the out terminal of the rocker, but no 12v to the terminal of the rocker that should have constant voltage. Had to ground the wire going to the motor to get a ground to the rocker switch. Did not try and put 12v on the power to the switch at the motor for fear I would short circuit something. Is there anything between the control panel and the slideout motors that would interfere with this change in voltage?

Not sure what you mean by having 12v constant to the out terminal of the rocker. The slideout switch should have constant 12v on the center terminals and only have voltage on the outside terminals when switch is pressed in one direction or the other. It is a reversing switch to change polarity to motor to change motor direction so I would question the switch as being good. Try and apply 12v to the motor leads directly from the switch wires after removing them from the switch. Possibly bad switch or wire(s) between switch and motor. Have you removed wires to the motor from the switch and checked them to ground? Good luck and let us know your results please.

Is there a control box in between the rocker switch and the slideout motor? Thats my main question
