We would like to add a separate awning mounted to the living room slide. This is not a slide topper but a full awning the width of the slide. We find that about 75% of the time, we want the awning where the living room slide is. So, we were thinking about adding an awning on the slide itself. We find that with the slide out, and the normal awning being so far forward, this often puts us sitting closer to the road than we want, or the slide is blocking our view. We frequently use our pop up awning but a permanent would look a whole lot better. I have seen them offered of some units, Cardinal I think.

Can anyone tell me if the slide can support this, or will this be too much stress and not enough support?

The slide on any trailer is essentially a plywood box, and they're short on structure. An awning would tug at the top and put weight on the bottom, and they'd affect the mechanicals. It won't work.

One negative of owning a fifth wheel is that the awnings are often mounted very high, and they're not as protecting during blowing or inclement weather. I've accepted that fact.

Thanks, we are looking more for full size awning. Take a look at this Cardinal. They don't show the awning open, but you can see it mounted on the slide. I'm wonder if the living room slide on the Reflection cn handle the stress of an awning that size on the slide.

ritterjd, those can easily be added without concern. Check this site out: http://www.shadepro.net/category/RV_Window_Awnings.html

It's only a matter of money and they're not really all that much.

I'd be concerned about mounting the awning arms/awning rail onto the slideout exterior wall which wouldn't have the backing plates to properly secure them. I realize that other manufacturer offer it but it's intended by design which would include backing and a 12V supply for power. All that said, you can find someone how will do it though I think you'll won't have factory support if any problems arise.

Hi @ritterjd,

We're interested in the answer as well. We have a 369RL, #302 from May, 2013 (sorry, don't have the full VIN).

Hi @TNFSolitude,

Any awning (other than a slide topper awning) would have to be mounted to the exterior extruded aluminum molding ("t" molding) with the screws inside the flange (to hit the wall tube) on your specific Solitude 369RL.

Best regards,
~ Janice

I'll get that to you next week after we pick it up. We pick up our new 337RLS next Monday.

Thanks for the response.

Hi @ritterjd,

Congratulations, and welcome to our growing family of Reflection RV owners! Awning arms will have to be mounted to the aluminum extrusions on the outside edge of the room as there are no backers in the wall to accommodate awning arms.

Best regards,
~ Janice
