Registration for the GD 2014 Owners Rally

The dates for the Grand Design Owners Rally has been set…Sept 8 – 10th for the planned activities. Attendees should plan on arriving on Sunday, Sept 7th and departing Thursday Sept 11th. Should you wish to come earlier or stay later, I’m sure that the campground will be able to accommodate.

The campground that has been selected is Elkhart Campground in Elkhart, IN. They have 140 – 50A full hook-up, pull thru sites…more than enough for our needs. The site price $33 per night + 7% tax. They also have a fully equipped meeting hall available for our use. Here’s a link to their website… http://www.elkhartcampground.com/

I’m asking that attendees contact the campground directly to make reservations by phone ((574)264-2914) or email ([email protected]) …identify yourselves as the GD Owners Group. I’d also ask that you send me a PM on the forum so that I can track the number attending.

OK Help! I just called the campground to get our reservations for the rally. The lady I spoke to didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. She asked if we were a group out of Canada. I asked for a full hook up with cable. She did not want to know the size of unit. Also did not want to take a deposit from me. Have never had that happen before. She also did not have any confirmation to give me or sight number even. I am a little leery of traveling to the campground without some kind of confirmation that we will have a sight to go to. Are we going to be taking up a block of campsites so we are all in some kind of proximity to each other or are we camping anywhere in the park?

I've clarified the plan with the owners. Their reference to the group from Canada is me! ;D

When you call or email, reference the Grand Design Owners Group. They'll accept a deposit of the first night to hold your spot. As their campground is currently closed for the season, the deposit will have to be by mailed cheque.

I've asked them to reserve a block of 40 sites near the meeting hall...they will probably be 100 - 119, 200 - 209, 300 - 308 and 400 - 408 if needed (reference their site map). They won't be assigning the sites as reservations as received...their only concern at this time will be the number of sites required, again with the purpose of keeping our group together but not knowing the absolute number attending. If you wish a specific site or wish to keep a group of campers together, I'm sure that they will do their best to accommodate or I can help to organize that as we're arriving on the 5th.

If you have special needs, please identify that when reserving.

To simplify things, we've made up a registration form (pdf format) that can be printed and mailed with your first nights deposit to the campground. The campground will send you an email confirmation upon receipt of the registration form/cheque.

Hope this straightens things out...sorry for the confusion.

Please send me a private message (PM) once you've reserved indicating the number in your party that's attending. I need to track this total for planning of the events/activities.

As you're registered on the forum, you should be able to download the registration form, though you'll need Abode Reader to open it which can be downloaded off the internet for free. If you're still having problems, send me a private message.

I also note that your forum status is marked as 'Registered Guest' which limits what you can view on the forum like attachments. You may have to update your status to 'Site Sponsor' to open that pdf file. You can contact me also through [email protected] which is the noted contact on GD web site and their Facebook page and we can go from there.

We are Chuck & Kelli and are planning to be at the Grand Design Rally in September. We have been fulltime RVers for almost 7 years & we love it. Our first RV was a DRV Mobile Suite which we loved, but we are having a great time in our larger Grand Design Solitude. We also have a little Yorkie named Lexi who thinks she is a person. We have camped at Elkhart Campground several times & found it to be a really nice campground. The people are nice & accommodating & the campground is pretty large. We are really excited about this get together.
